9. Am I the only person who seems to remember BWoC having a huge fandom at one point? Or if not huge, they at least seemed pretty dedicated. I loved BWoC. I would so read that crossover.

25. Tell me about it. I watch this show with my mam. She's loves it. I love it too. I find Sam and Dean adorable, but while my ma is totally swooning over them I'm always more interested in the hot chicks, which really isn't something I can tell her about.

I had a similar experience watching Dark Angel with my father and lusting over young Jessica Alba (except he didn't swoon over Jensen).

Bela is hot like a hot thing, and I don't just mean the t & a, but that's good too. I LIKE her 'joker lips' that people seem to hate. She reminds me of a sneaky evil kitty :D

19. Call me crazy, but I kind of agree and disagree. Much like rosehiptea posted earlier, I consider fanfic about any pairing plausible if both characters are acting like themselves. Now, for me at least, this includes sexual preferences. If a female character only goes for girls in her canon, for example, I don't consider any fanfic where she suddenly starts falling in love with guys -- or at least having sex with them -- to be plausible without some believable reason being given for the change in preference, you know? I can consider a story nicely written and admire a writer's style even if it doesn't satisfy in that department, though. I just... won't think of it as quite as true to the characters.

What's fun about fanfic for me personally is keeping the characters as true as possible to what the original creators seem to have intended while still trying to make them seem like real people as capable of development as you and me. If what's fun for you is writing characters who're pretty hot together and you do it while making the characters seem true to themselves, my hat's off to you. And I definitely agree that a writer doesn't have to believe in a pairing to write it well.

34: Oh man, I'm going through the exact same thing! D= <TL;DR> For some weird reason, I can only have one "primary" fandom at a time. I can have several "auxiliary" fandoms, which I obsess over for a week or two before going back to the primary fandom, but the primary fandom of the moment is what really makes my world go around. Until a few months ago, my primary fandom was Yu-Gi-Oh GX, but the end of season 3 was so goddamn crappy I stopped watching it. I've been trying to look for a new primary fandom since November. It's not going well. My brain has currently latched onto a game that doesn't HAVE a fandom. T___T </TL;DR>

Honestly the intelligence lets him get away with a lot in my eyes, and the sarcasm makes me happy... but really I love the man for his flaws, and I think the character is the only one they get right consistently on the show. As much as I love it.

63- I thought that, for a long time too. I didn't bother playing Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald for THREE YEARS because I thought there was never going to be any way they could top Gold/Silver/Crystal.
I've never been so wrong in my life. RSE is my favourite gen now. I wish I'd looked into it sooner and I kind of regret it. If you haven't played Diamond/Pearl, you should give it a chance. It's kind of reminiscent of GSC, actually, just shiny and new. And if you have played it and didn't like it, what's wrong with you?

25. Hon, I feel you completely. Is there a community for spn girllove? Because I admit that Ruby bugs me, but it's not like I despise her or anything, and Bela, MY GOD. She rocks my socks. She'd rock them harder with Ruby. On the floor. Fighting...

Ideally, if I were the writer for that show, I'd make sure that Bela and Dean were never able to make a move on each other at all, until maybe the sixth or seven season when they started something that blew up SPECTACULARLY in a way that would make fans of both characters cry and write angsty fix-it fic, because the UST and banter between them is something that should be tended like a well-loved garden. Plus, keeping the relationship in limbo for good reasons allows the fans to fantacize other pairings. I know that some people find her to be an evil bitch, but I adore every little bit of her, and I seriously seriously would hit that, even if I'm pretty certain she'd carelessly leave me to die because she's a character that's in that amoral but not psychotic alignment that I adore so.

The sad thing is that people are misinterpreting her character so much. I could write so much meta on why her character is brilliant and adds depth to the story (including reflecting on Sam and Dean through her flaws).

36. I miss the utter crack of Digimon fandom. I wrote such bad fanfic for that (and by bad, I mean character driven with decent plot, but jarringly Amerocentric with fangirl NIHONGO!). Ken was my HOMEBOY. Sora/Miyako was my OTP.

On a less flippant note, I sympathise somewhat. I wasn't anywhere near as crushed about it as you described, but I did heave a bit of a sigh when I realized that I'd never have a chance at playing the fun parts in Jesus Christ: Superstar. Or the Phantom of the Opera. It's disappointing to be limited by my funbits, much as I like them and wouldn't trade them in for anything else.
