While I can see where you're coming from, your choice in examples is... um, part of a limited genre?

Anyway, as a general rule I'd say you might want to go for the manga side rather than anime if you want distinctive/different art - anime tend to simplify character designs for the sake of budget. Anyway, for anime with great mindfuck visuals, I suggest...

- Cat Soup
- Dead Leaves
- Gankutsuou
- Mononoke
- Texhnolyze (mindfuck in general O.o)
- FLCL
- Gurren Lagann

Shows like Ghost in the Shell had more realistic, down-to-earth character designs, as does Death Note, and shows like Moyashimon and Genshiken have comical and ugly-looking characters... One Piece also sides more with the comical, and if you want to go batty there's always Crayon Shin-chan.

Anyway, yeah, there is a really generic base that a lot of anime spin off, but shows with a different style do exist. :P

OH YAH. And Berserk? Especially the manga? (though the art starts off weak, give it a chance!) BEST FRIGGIN ART EVER. Seriously. Very realistic and detailed, if you go for that sort of thing.

...and #55, that series is what has made me actually be interested in Gurren Lagann. :| Sigh.

2. That's terrible D: Honestly, I'd back off if someone told me that's why they don't slash incest. And a lot of people who don't slash incest probably weren't sexually assaulted as kids.
