So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I dropped out of college.

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Why?

Re: So...

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2015-07-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if it's not for you, it's not for you, and no sense in throwing money (or worse, debt) at something that isn't working.

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
College isn't right for some people.

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Smart move.

Re: So...

Have fun making min wage the rest of your life, that is if you aren't a leech off your parents (or the government) forever instead .

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
lololololololololol

Did you go to college, end up in a minimum paying job, and now live your life full of bitterness?

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not how reality works mr bitter

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Who hurt you, bb?

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
My sister has a Master's Degree and makes minimum wage. It's irrelevant.

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck you. I went to college, got my degree, and now I can't find ANY work ANYWHERE. Not even in minimum wage bullshit jobs.

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Have fun reassuring your fragile ego by convincing yourself you're so much better tonight, all by your lonesome

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You must live in an elitist, white-collar bubble, anon. You should expand your horizons sometime. Visit an oil field or something.

I'm a college dropout. I'm finally going back this year to finish a degree, but my department just hired a bunch of people to the same job I have. The guy coming to our location has his Masters, and he wasn't the only one hired with an advanced degree to an entry level position. The job market sucks so badly that people take whatever they can get. Doesn't make them losers. Everybody's gotta eat somehow.

Did you want to drop out?

College isn't for everyone, either way. There's still traineeships and classes if you have skills you need to improve for your job. Do you know where you'd like to go right now?

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hope everything works out, anon!

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I was in pre-med, on a scholarship, but when a ton of things started piling up and going wrong, I dropped out for a year, worked, travelled, got a better idea what I wanted to do with my life, and then went back and finished my degree (in a different field).

Re: So...

(Anonymous) 2015-07-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a waste of time really. You pay a ton of money for an education that's mostly pointless just so you can get a piece of paper that's apparently very important to the almighty HR department -- if you're a white man, or a particularly good looking white girl.

And then you make minimum wage for the rest of your life anyway.

I can't wait for the coming post-capitalism America where none of this is necessary. It'd be nice to have some income equality -- we got close in the 70s and 80s and then the oligarchs panicked.

- How far in were you.
- Why'd you drop out.
- What are your current plans.
- How much have you invested in your education already.

Okay.

So what do you plan to do now?

If it was your decision and you weren't feeling comfortable with your career choice, then that's okay. College is not for everyone, and if you feel financially secure in the future, you can always go back to it, as long as you still want to, of course.
