Your "Happy Place" show/book/movie/etc

(Anonymous) 2015-07-31 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, it doesn't have to be your biggest obsession, or your favorite, or the best thing you've read/watched. But something that's your happy place, that you go to re-read/re-watch/consume fandom for when you want to get away from it all, relax, cheer yourself up, or indulge in nostalgia and good feelings.

Mine is Star Trek: The Next Generation. ;)

Discworld books, Transformers cartoons or most Miyazaki movies, especially Spirited Away. They all have worlds that get my spirits up.

Lord of the Rings- books or movies. Anything Tolkien really. Books, movies, fandom, all of it.

Harry Potter for books mostly and some of the movies and very much the fics.

Doctor Who.

Babylon 5.

I actually go back and read my livejournal archive from '04. I had fun then.

I suppose classic Doctor Who, anything from the McCoy years (except Silver Nemesis, it was a turd of a story).

Daria and Futurama. I tend to put on the commentaries for Futurama too. I'm not usually into those but Futurama's are fun.

Phineas and Ferb. Such a good show. I only just got around to watching season 4 (don't have the Disney channel and Netflix doesn't show in my country) and I think the complaints of the show jumping the shark are exaggerating things. It's still 3/4 as good as season 2 imo and this show's still got (had?) it tbh

The Wizard of Oz and The Ten Commandments, primarily because of the happy childhood memories they bring back. Growing up, The Wizard of Oz was usually shown on TV in the springtime around my birthday, and Ten Commandments was at Easter, so chocolate bunnies and coloring eggs and being happy that winter was over and whatnot. I just associate those movies w8th good times I suppose lol.

Final Fantasy VII (original game). It's that piece of media for me that just feels like home.

All things Tolkien.

King's Quest, Gargoyles, Disney and other nostalgia media.

And Pushing Daisies for just bright happiness. :)

Tales of the Abyss. I have such incredible love in me for every single one of those characters.

Well. Maybe not Mohs.

I like rereading Harry Potter and Merlin BBC fic. I don't really have a specific show, but probably Trailer Park Boys, IASIP, or Star Trek (especially Quark episodes).

These days probably the Best Friends LPs on youtube.

They're relaxing, and I usually get a few laughs out of episodes which is more than I can say for most mainstream media.

Doctor Who, Parks and Rec, the original Indiana Jones movies (childhood nostalgia!).

Adventure movies / TV shows - Indiana Jones, Buckaroo Banzai, The Rocketeer, Big Trouble In Little China, the Librarian franchise, things like that. I don't know, they're just really cheerful and enjoyable for me. And simple in a really good, clean, real way.

Vanilla WoW. I'm so glad that the community is such that there will be private vanilla servers until the end of time. The atmosphere is so different to the current game and it just takes me away completely. Everything about it is my happy place.

I have a few things for this, but the one I think fits the best is Pokémon.

Right now, MCU movies.
