Re: Myers-Briggs test
(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah... it is very stupid, and no, it isn't the most respected personality index by a LONG SHOT. It's been criticized for a very long time by agencies actually concerned with psychology. Testing for its validity has generally yielded poor results, and it's been criticized for not having any sort of "lie detector" built in it - questions designed to catch people who tend to exaggerate or pick socially desirable qualities. Myers-Briggs basically has almost no credibility these days.
It's the MMPI that's widely used and more respected by actual psychologists, not Myers-Briggs.
Re: Myers-Briggs test
(Anonymous) 2015-08-08 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)It is used by businesses to asses "good fits" with employees, yes. But no one really knows why it's still used when it's so widely criticized and no one really has anything good to say about its results.

Re: Myers-Briggs test
I never said it was the most accurate or comprehensive personality index out ther... to use an analogy, the same can be said for traditional IQ testing vs. newer versions of the IQ test. What I am saying is that the Myers-Briggs index is still the IQ test of personality; it's the most well known outside of psych circles and most widely used outside of research.
Re: Myers-Briggs test
(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 09:48 am (UTC)(link)If you agree, then I'm confused as to why you snidely dismissed OP's claim that it was stupid (which, psychologists say, it is) and said it was the most respected personality index, though now you're saying it isn't.
