That is awful in its sheer ignorance. Three Stooges were on television (in endless reruns) when she was a kid. As for the Groucho and the rest of the Marx Brothers, and their films, were and are classics. Both of film and of the comedy tradition.

I'm appalled.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you really appalled

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Who wouldn't be? The Stooges weren't a patch on the Marx Brothers.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah but does it appall you, though

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
NAYRT, but it appalls the fuck out of me. Some of us take the history of comedy in this country seriously. Considering a lot of Ms. Day's best work has been in comedy, it's doubly embarrassing that she'd screw up something that basic. If you play baseball, I expect you to know that Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams were two different guys. Same principle.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. This.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
So it would appall you if a baseball fan didn't know Joe DiMaggio? You would feel appalled at that. Appallment is what you would feel.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... yes. Obviously.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So basically, you take completely meaningless bullshit more seriously than anyone in their right mind should.

LOL holy shit.

I just...that statement. "Some of us take the history of comedy in this country seriously." Hahaha. I wish you and the anon who agreed could hear how stupid that sounds.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
If you think it's stupid to think seriously about an important artform, that doesn't make you look smart. It makes you look stupid but smug about it.

You know, it's not too late to throw your hat in the ring for the Republican nomination. You seem to have the basic qualification down.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Wooooow.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
People are being tremendous douchebags here. This community is swimming with super fans who will pole vault across a room to correct a complete stranger for misquoting a character from some show they are absolutely balls-to-the-wall obsessed with, so I really don't follow the "get a load of this moron" circle jerk this has turned into. It has seriously curled my lip. Especially considering the secret in question was about whether or not Felicia Day is a fake geek, not whether or not it's okay to be mad when something you consider personally important is effed up by someone you personally feel should know better.

You all are gross.

I heard it in Yakov Smirnoff's voice. XD

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Taking comedy seriously... I think you're missing something fundamental here.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No professional comedian would agree with you.

Do you think comedy happens by ACCIDENT?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
they're both overrated

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm older than her and never watched the Stooges on TV. I've also never seen a Marx Brothers film.

I guess I'm a terrible human being.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-15 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm roughly the same age as Felicia Day and if the Stooges were on constant rerun, well, fine, but I didn't watch them because I was busy watching Voltron, Thundercats, Scooby Doo, etc. I imagine that a lot of kids our age didn't watch the Stooges. What's so weird about that?

I'm sorry anon, but I have no idea what the Stooges are or who Marx is and I'm basically reading this entire thread in confusion.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-16 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Two comedy troupes from the 1930s-type era of Hollywood. Both were pretty vaudevillian, with the Stooges being much broader. Also Groucho Marx was great.

Marginally amusing but I hope I'm not going to be quizzed on this!
