Yep.

The problem is that a lot of perfectly normal men, family guys and young upstanding college students both, think that rape is only violent stranger-rape. There are a whole bunch of rapists and rape supporters that tell themselves they are decent guys because they have never committed violent stranger rape, and ignore all the other types of rape and rape jokes they regularly do partake of. The violent stranger-rapists, yeah, those guys know they are criminals and no amount of teaching will cure those. The rest of you guys with your excuses as to why it isn't real rape, or why a joke about rape doesn't hurt, you guys are the problem. Now, will you cop to it or are you gonna get all defensive and weasel out?

I won't really know, I'm a virgin. But as far as I understand, rape is essentially sexual activities without consent from both parties. And stop trying to paint this as a "Men=villians, Women=victims" thing please?

The point is that not all rape is done by psychopaths who ignore that there is not mutual consent.

Some of it is done as a result of not understanding or overlooking consent. Or just not thinking it through.

So saying "It's all done by psychopaths" is wrong and misleading.

Okay, education about consent is necessary.
But don't limit that education to just men.

I don't think anyone would say that we should limit it to just men.

I think the reason people focus on men in the discourse is because - and correct me if you have any statistics to the contrary - more men are rapists than women.

Define, "a lot". Because less than 5% of men are rapists or attempted to rape someone. And that % is on par with most other crimes.

The internet. Do you have statistics that say otherwise? The highest I have found is 6%.

So you're saying based on the massive population of the male population who are rapists (and the even higher percentage that have admitted they would be rapists if the could get away with it. 1 in 3 is the figure on that, btw) they are just psychopaths? You're telling me that 1 in 3 men are mentally ill, and it's not just basic ignorance, basic lack of compassion, and run of the mill hatred, but a mental condition shared by them all?

WOW! Look at that sample size of a whopping 73 men. And that confusing wording can make people say they will do something they won't.

nayrt, I don't care if it is only a survey of 73, it's the poison M & M analogy, 33% of these 73 M & M's could kill me? I'll stick to skittles.

This would be an incredibly compelling argument if your encounters of men were limited to those specific 73 men. But it's not.

The point of a small sample size is that it does not provide good evidence for the thing. So we don't really have a good idea whether or not that 33% figure is accurate.

Its accurate for those random 73 men, and there is not compelling counter evidence that say's it won't be true for the next 73.
