It all kind of depends on the person, really, but it is kind of sad when things aren't given a chance simply due to an art style. I thought that the art of many of my favorite series were absolutely appalling at first (One Piece, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and especially Oh! Edo Rocket), but eventually became accustomed to and even fond of them.

18. OH YAY! I want a world where all social order is dictated by an a single individual, too! It doesn't matter if half the people he kills are innocent or not, because I will feel better. Yup, nevermind things like human fallibility, and the fact that at least a third of all death-row prisoners in trigger-happy states are proven innocent post-humous.

The world Light wanted was a pipe dream. It's based off of the assumption that most of human behavior is 100% rational, which it is most certainly NOT. People would still use drugs to escape their problems (they risk death by doing so much of the time), people would still commit crimes because they were high on drugs, or wanted money to get ahold of drugs. They would still have the chemically altered perception or chemical dependancy inhibit their judgement. Crimes of passion would still occurr. People with genuine mental illnesses, such as antisocial personality disorder, would still be born. People would still believe that they could get away with shit. Third-world countries would still have large-scale ethnic, tribal, and religious conflicts.

In other words: It wouldn't be all that much different from now. Especially in countries where the media is tightly regulated.

tl;dr: I think that your opinion reflects a fundamental lack of understanding with regards to history, human nature, and reality in general.

30. I don't think that agreeing with him makes you a bad person-- I do however think that it speaks of naivete. I come from a Jewish family, too. And, I have to be perfectly honest-- part of what made me dislike Light so much was precisely that his views reminded me strongly of Nazi idealogy. Here's a thought that turns my stomach: Hitler genuinely believed that the Jews were evil. It wasn't just rhetoric-- he honestly thought that he was making the world a better place by getting rid of us. That's what happens when an individual-- any individual, no matter how intelligent, enlightened, or idealistic -- is given the power to determine justice based on his or her own subjective morality. Notice, as Light became more and more paranoid, his victims became progressively less 'criminal'.

I'm willing to bet that, if that was your parent incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit (or even for one he did commit) you would care a great deal if somebody like Light decided they ought to die, wouldn't you? What if it was your child? Your sibling?

What if it was you?

26. Skies of Arcadia! I check crescentisle every now and then, but it's not very active. I find it hard to write fic for it because the game felt so complete to me. I mean, there are loose ends to tie up, minor characters to explore, cool places to write about, and so on... but I don't think I've ever been quite so happy with a game just as it was the way I was happy with Skies.

Only game I have ever beaten and immediately played all the way through again. I think I'm up for a third round :D
