Honestly, I just don't get the appeal of Bond. Although, come to think of it, the idea of a very similar character but a woman is really intriguing and now I want to go find genderbent Bond fics if such a thing exists.

That being said, Idris Elba is awesome and I'd watch him in almost anything.

Ooh, now you're talking. Female Bond! <333 "My name is Bond. Jane Bond." Hrrr!

Yup. Player men are so overdone. Player women are not. Plus women spies (who aren't the sex objects in the movie but the hero and good at their job) are also not done often.

Canonically, there is a female James Bond: Vesper Lynd in the 1967 version of Casino Royale. Sure the movie is basically the result of many people taking an amount of cocaine suitable for a much larger number of people, but it's an actual Bond movie and she is codenamed 007 and considered one of the seven James Bonds.

A "James Bond"? Not a double 0?

She's referred to as James Bond at the end.

It's a very weird movie.

The first Casino Royale film is not really regarded as canonical:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_James_Bond_films

It gets a category at the end, which it shares with the equally ignored Never Say Never Again. Totally different production company to the main line of films.

Is it rec time?

I read a female Bond fic a while back when Skyfall came out. I can't remember the quality too well because that was 3 years ago, but it featured femslash?

if you want to read it

Female bond with femslash? I'm in. Thanks!

All I can imagine with a female Bond is Bond boys in tight swimsuits.

I am more than okay with this.

Come on, film people, get on this train!

This I would be okay with.
