Fiction: severing relationships
(Anonymous) 2015-09-14 01:18 am (UTC)(link)I know in most tv shows there is always a push to forgive, accept because their *faaaamily* and I find it grating. I know semi recently there was a secret about not liking how ncis kept pushing one of their characters to accept his shitty dad back because their *faaaamily*.mI'm glad other people dont like this troupe.
Anyone else have thoughts? Or opinions? About this in fiction I mean.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)Tbh, I don't think I've read any fics where someone breaks off a relationship like that. Guess it depends on the fandom or something. I have read fics where a character who is awesome in their daily life goes 'home' and their current friend(s) find out how awful people there (still) treat them. Those often don't end in happy togetherness and forgiveness either, but more of a 'glad we're rid of those people' vibe.
