1. DO IT FOR THE LULZ.

Seriously. Don't go in there expecting a masterpiece, and it'll be fine. The reason there are so many Destiny bashers is that the first part -- the first ten episodes or the first thirty-something, depending on who you talk to -- are awesome, so there were a bunch of people who watched it. And then the ending was lame, so there are a bunch of haters. If it had been shit from the start, no one would have watched it, no one would bash it.

That said, if time is an issue, watch the four movies that condense the series. And then watch SD Destiny. Icon related.

Mmmm, Dana/Casey.

Fandom really fails on everything but Dan/Casey for the most part, but there is a brilliant Dana/Casey fic off the top of my head, since you asked for recs - Auld Lang Syne (http://mardia.livejournal.com/125304.html) by mardia. Pre-Sports Night, with the two of them in college.

I comfort myself with the fact that if the show had gone on longer, Dana/Casey totally would have happened for real. Sorkin can't help himself with his OTPs.

It's not so much that they'd be more interesting than Squall and Rinoa, I also think Quistis is a unique FF character and, damn, the possible romantic/sexual dynamic between her and Seifer makes me drool.

I also think it would be a far more coherent, emotionally complex game instead of that crazy time skip stuff or whatever.

I'm not exactly complaining the fandom is small, actually. It's a good thing. ;) But the name took me a long while to get into and I actually know some Japanese. haha. I feel this series is more fun than say, Peacemaker, but Peacemaker is that much easier to pronouce and remember.

I want Akizuki's likeness as a toy.
