That boy looks...like 12. This is really creepy.

Also, maybe both are...wrong?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think OP is saying either is right

Their argument seems to be that if they're going to show a wrong thing with genders set one way, showing the same thing with genders reversed shouldn't be treated differently, equally right or equally wrong

And showing depictions of such in fiction isn't the same as real life

It's also probably worth noting that these two aren't in a relationship or having sex or even flirting or anything like that. Sometimes they have scenes that read teacher/student, sometimes they have scenes that are mother/son, sometimes they have scenes where they kinda seems like they are going for some weird sexual chemistry.

He's a college student, isn't he?

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's a first-year law student, so the youngest he could be (unless he's a prodigy) would be early to mid-20s.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
No way he looks twelve. With that throat and the shoulders? Twenty at least. Not creepy at all.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That face? Ehhh. maybe 15ish.

Some adults have baby faces.

He looks to me like he could be either a teen or a young adult.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
With skin that clear? Your school must've been full of teenagers who could've modeled in Noxema commercials.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
From the neck up, I look like a teenager, but I'm 32. I'd be legit annoyed if someone thinks that it's creepy for me to be in a relationship with an adult just because I happen to have a babyface because HELLO I AM AN ADULT.

stop watching the CW and try looking through your high school yearbook, you've obviously forgotten how lanky, gangly, and young teenagers look outside of movies

He was Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter series.

Seeing kid stars grow up and do mature stuff always squicks me.
I know kids grow up but it's like a part of my childhood dies every time.

He doesn't look 12 to me, but maybe because I actually SAW him when he was 12? I dunno. It's still a little weird.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
...You do see the part where OP says they still would have disapproved, right? Also, the guy!character is in college and definitely of age, and the actor is 26.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah. The OP is obviously a prude.

I'd totally get where they were coming from if the dude was younger than 18.

I'd kind of get where they were coming from if the dude was older than 18, but not old enough to legally buy a drink (in the U.S.).

But, c'mon. Context. They guy's in his mid-20s, and old enough to make up his own damn mind. If he wants to be with an older partner, there's nothing wrong with that.

(I've made this exact same argument about older male/younger female pairings. The argument holds either way. This automatically infantalizing the younger partner in any May-December pairing absolutely drives me nuts.)

Besides, as others have pointed out, the deeper context is that this set of images is misleading at best for this particular pairing.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt, I wouldn't have said that OP is 'obviously' a prude, but otherwise I agree with you. Doesn't matter to me about the genders; if both parties are legal, they're old enough to make up their own minds. That being said, it is nice to see some reversed-gender examples finally appearing.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no. That guy looks young, but definitely not 12.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was a twelve-year-old boy. That is not a twelve-year-old boy.

He's way too tall, for one thing. Also, those are some well-developed pectorals, a bit much for a pubescent.

(Anonymous) 2015-10-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
... Here is what a 12 year old boy looks like

And here is the guy in the secret

Dude, I'm fairly face blind and terrible with ages and I still wouldn't think the second pic was prepubescent. I think you've been spending too much time watching 30 year olds play freshmen on TV.

And while we're at it: animals don't behave like on Disney films either.
