Some ground rules:

When you have a thread for positivity about something harmless and fun and someone comes in that thread to talk about how they don't do/like it and hate or judge when others do it or "just I think its stupid" and just shit on everyone's fun.

Even worse when they react to criticism with "BUT MUH FREE SPEECH/RIGHT TO AN OPINION" bawwing. Shut the fuck up and quit playing innocent, you know very well that you're being an asshole.

It's not about silencing you, it's about being mature enough to let other people have their fun even if you aren't into it. They don't NEED to know that you "don't do that" or don't like it. If it doesn't apply to you then you can just skip it. You aren't so fucking important that your judgement just NEEDS to be expressed rather than letting some people have a good time.

It's funniest when they cry MUH FREE SPEECH when other people calling them an asshole is a great example of free speech happening

Eyup. They rarely seem to notice the irony.

I remember when the one girl was being stalked and the stalker kept going on at every opportunity about how "I find her annoying and want her to leave" and when someone told them to quit being asshole their response was "OMG you ASSHOLE how dare you silence my opinion!1!" (after their opinion had been stated for like the tenth fucking time no less)

Talk about self awareness being at an all time low.

Yeah, people really tend to misuse/misunderstand what the whole "free speech" thing means a lot of the time. It's quite sad.

And I agree with your overall post. If they want to complain about or trash that thing, then they can start their own discussion thread. Sometimes some fans just want a happy, wank-free space, and there's nothing wrong with that, and they deserve to have that.

I also hate the idea that if you try and focus on positive aspects of something you're a "Pollyanna" or a "lemming" or whatever. I can find plenty to critique about the shows I love, too, episodes and seasons I'm not as big on and stuff like that. I'm not naïve enough to claim everything is totally perfect. But for the most part, if I'm talking about something I'm a fan of, I like to focus on and talk about the good sides of it, the things that made me love it in the first place.

(And of course, on the flip side, I hate that people assume that any criticism means you're not a "true fan" and you automatically must hate the show or something. It's like people can't understand the concept of balanced opinions and thoughts, everything's got to be one extreme or another.)
