Some ground rules:

I...don't think I've ever heard people purposely do that. Are you sure they're doing it voluntarily? Everyone's sneeze is different and some people are just really loud.

When you have a thread for positivity about something harmless and fun and someone comes in that thread to talk about how they don't do/like it and hate or judge when others do it or "just I think its stupid" and just shit on everyone's fun.

Even worse when they react to criticism with "BUT MUH FREE SPEECH/RIGHT TO AN OPINION" bawwing. Shut the fuck up and quit playing innocent, you know very well that you're being an asshole.

It's not about silencing you, it's about being mature enough to let other people have their fun even if you aren't into it. They don't NEED to know that you "don't do that" or don't like it. If it doesn't apply to you then you can just skip it. You aren't so fucking important that your judgement just NEEDS to be expressed rather than letting some people have a good time.

Yeah, people really tend to misuse/misunderstand what the whole "free speech" thing means a lot of the time. It's quite sad.

And I agree with your overall post. If they want to complain about or trash that thing, then they can start their own discussion thread. Sometimes some fans just want a happy, wank-free space, and there's nothing wrong with that, and they deserve to have that.

I also hate the idea that if you try and focus on positive aspects of something you're a "Pollyanna" or a "lemming" or whatever. I can find plenty to critique about the shows I love, too, episodes and seasons I'm not as big on and stuff like that. I'm not naïve enough to claim everything is totally perfect. But for the most part, if I'm talking about something I'm a fan of, I like to focus on and talk about the good sides of it, the things that made me love it in the first place.

(And of course, on the flip side, I hate that people assume that any criticism means you're not a "true fan" and you automatically must hate the show or something. It's like people can't understand the concept of balanced opinions and thoughts, everything's got to be one extreme or another.)

That "hi 'user' bullshit when you want to embarrass a user you don't like by assuming some anon must be them. I find it creepy and obnoxious.

It also annoys me to have someone assuming I must be some random user because I happen to share an opinion similar to them. Multiple people CAN have similar opinions you know.

Typically that's done when the anon has a particularly shitty opinion. So if that's happening to you, you might wanna work on that.

Older people whining about Millennials and how they're "the worst thing ever". I just saw a TIME magazine titled "Help My Parents Are Millennials" about how "young people are possibly fucking up the next generation"

I hate it when people reblog the ISIS execution photos/videos. It's always on twitter or facebook where you can't block it, too. :/ I know people complain about Tumblr, but people on Tumblr are actually good about not posting disturbing stuff and tagging it if they do.

People also don't seem to get that they are playing in the hands of ISIS when they are doing this. They want the photos/videos to be spread. We should just ignore it and refuse to watch or re-blog.

People here thinking that they know better than whoever. Life experience, or a situation with a fandom, or whatever. There's a whole lot of "I know what's right and you're wrong!" going around, and it's tiresome.

Ask kids/college students how they're enjoying school in excess, because I know how much it drove me crazy as a kid. It's fine to ask how school is, and if you're a family member you have the right to know more, but... it's the weekend. Chances are they don't want to talk about their upcoming assignments.

Fortunately I've graduated so this isn't a problem anymore, but I always hated it when people chatted in computer labs, or talked on their phones really loudly. Even more annoying was the fact that the people who worked there were also students, and no way in hell were they going to say anything to their friends.

On F!S. Well maybe "can't stand is too strong" but I've always been bothered by how on past anon memes if there is a "users you love" thread there has to be a "users you hate/don't love" thread.

Honestly it just seems like it breeds more negativity than needed. I know people will say it's only fair or whatever. But just....I don't see why we need to talk about who we dislike.

Maybe its just because of my experience in school among my classmates but talking about who you don't like often leads to ugliness, trash talking and toxicity.

People who make a lot of inappropriate jokes in public. It's one thing to make loud, obnoxious dick jokes in the car or at home, but please don't do it in restaurants where people are just trying to eat and talk in peace.

Smokeless tobacco users are disgusting. The sound of them spitting into their little cups full of tobacco juice...it makes me just about puke. Worse still: the ones that spit on the floor in the bus.
