Healthcare!
(Anonymous) 2015-11-01 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)I have a question for people on here.
I am a fairly healthy 27 year old. I went to the doctors twice last year. One of those was a gyno check-up. I have two plans picked out.
Plan A) Deductible is $6000. Preventative care is free. Generic meds are free. The plan will cost $50.
Plan B) Deductible is $3000. Preventive care is free and generic meds are free. I get 3 free doctor visits a year to a whoever my primary care physician would be (I don't have one right now). It costs $150.
Which would you suggest I get?
anyone else have any questions about healthcare, post them!

I have a question: If I'm keeping the same plan, do I need to reenrole, or do I just keep paying the premium I have now? I only signed up 2 months ago, and this is my first time with non-parent or school health insurance. So I'm not really sure how it works.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-01 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)Could you afford to pay the larger deductible if something happened?
Are you on any medications right now or is it likely you will go on any based on your needs or conversations with a doctor (birth control, high blood pressure, whatever) and have you checked how much they cost under these plans?
Re: Healthcare!
(Anonymous) 2015-11-01 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)Non-Preventative care cost
Plan A 30% Coinsurance after deductible In-Network, 50% Coinsurance after deductible Out-of-Network
Plan B (first 3 free) 20% Coinsurance after deductible In-Network, 30% Coinsurance after deductible Out-of-Network
I think I could pay it if there was an emergency. It would be hard and I'd have to do payments but I could do it.
I am on one medication which is a cream for my face. It has a generic alternative. Both plans I am looking at have, "No Charge In-Network, $5 Out-of-Network" for generic drugs.
I'd like to get on birth control. I am trying to figure out what they cover or not.
Re: Healthcare!
I'd personally go with the lower deductible because you never know what could happen in a year and if you can't afford the higher deductible, that's going to hit you hard.
