LOLOLOL ME TOO. Only I actually did tell them (even those not in the fandom lololol [actually, i think i even told my family. they were probably mostly just relieved that it wasn't john locke]). They were very, very creeped out because HE IS SUCH A WONDERFULLY CREEPY PERSON.

But I don't really have a problem with creeping my friends out, so it wasn't too hard for me to do. I ENCOURAGE YOU IN YOUR ENDEAVOR, NOBLE OP. If your friends are any cool, they should be able to handle it without being emotionally scarred, yes? AND IT WILL MAKE FOR MUCH LULZ. THINK OF ALL THE BEN!SMUT YOU COULD SHARE WITH THEM AHAHA. Also, creepiness is less awkward when it is embraced, I believe.

many of my lj and internet fandom friends would be cool with it (they have much stranger fetishes and such) but my rl friends and family who watch lost would be sooo damn creeped out xD. they wouldn't hate me or abandon me or anything (i feel sorry for people who say in secrets that their friends or family would) but i'd never live it down. seriously. and, ahahaha, none of my rl friends read smut except like maybe two (the rest either don't or would never admit it)

Oh good lord, Asperger's. NOTE TO THE INTERNET: I would wager to guess that nearly none of you know what Asperger's actually looks like, because if you did you would realize how laughable your statements are. Call me back when you get an actual diagnosis, because Asperger's covers so much more than just social awkwardness.

FULL DISCLOSURE: My younger brother was actually diagnosed with it by a psychiatrist many years ago, as opposed to the Internet! If you've actually spent time around Asperger's folk and academics, you will never mistake one for the other.

So uh yeah, I agree with you OP, just taking a few minutes to rant.

hdsfj there is a community i am in, one of its memes~ is about people seriously asking for medical advice/an actual diagnosis instead of going to a doctor. it's like "i have a rash/lump/hallucination/funny smell/idk am i dying?"

my point is i hate people who use the internet for a diagnosis or whatever, without ever coming across it irl.
