Job Interview!!!!
(Anonymous) 2015-11-17 12:23 am (UTC)(link)In honor, tell me about your own experiences. Weird questions, common questions, how it all went right, how it all went wrong, what you wish you'd known or what advice you'd give - anything you like.
Re: Job Interview!!!!
Re: Job Interview!!!!
I did get that job though.

Yeah it is awkward when you're in a situation where you have to shake hands or something and you're contagious.
Coughing fits can't really be helped. You can try to hold them in, but I don't think turning purple is a good look either.
Re: Job Interview!!!!
Most of the time, you can pretty much prepare for any interview by looking up information on the institution to which you are applying. Come with a list of your own questions. Make sure you know exactly what the position you're applying for entails.
Doing the homework will go a long way toward being prepared, and never be afraid to sound too confident in your past experience. You can always afford to admit you have things to learn about any new job, but never admit to weakness in your past experiences.
Re: Job Interview!!!!
(Anonymous) 2015-11-17 01:21 am (UTC)(link)- Research the company and review the position in detail before the interview (i.e. know exactly how to answer both "why this company" and "why this position")
- Review your own resume and take a few minutes to walk through your experience as you would describe it to someone else (this is often the first question, especially in a recruiting interview: "can you walk me through your resume?")
- Have your resume in front of you, if it's a phone interview-- it may prompt you to remember details or projects you've done
- Review how you'd answer some standard interview questions-- "tell me about a challenge at work and how you overcame it"; "can you talk about a time you had to manage multiple projects simultaneously", etc.
- If they ask about salary in a recruiting/first round interview, feel free to deflect
- Have a few questions about the company and work environment on hand to ask at the end
Good luck! Don't be too nervous. Go in knowing you're qualified for the job, take a breath before you answer each question, and you'll do fine.
Re: Job Interview!!!!
Also, he interviewed eight people, and I was the only one he hired. I was also the only one who asked any questions about the job, and apparently that made a good impression on them.
