MCU Thread

Finally saw Winter Soldier (and I ship Bucky/Steve/Sam now), and I'm super excited for Civil War.

Feel free to discuss all things Marvel movies.

The Winter Soldier is still my favorite MCU movie. Which is weird because my least favorite is the first Captain America movie.

Also, has anyone else seen the deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World that was released (I guess). It wasof Loki's imaginary coronation.

I haven't seen that. (I haven't really seen Thor Dark World yet either, just parts of it). I keep seeing pictures of this courtyard scene between Loki and Thor with horses (it looks like it could be a deleted scene right before they ride out to meet Heimdel in the first movie) but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where that's located?

I love both Cap movies, though to be fair Cap 1 was the first one I sat down to seriously watch and I was hooked. Helps that I'm a fan of Weird WW2 Things and Cap was probably the closest we'll get to a proper Wolfenstein movie. And Cap 2 is basically a Metal Gear Solid movie.

Mine too. I love Winter Soldier so much. Guardians is a pretty close second.

As for that deleted section, I've had to block the Thorki tag because so many people on my flist are insisting that this makes Thorki canon. How? Thor imaginging himself as Thor does not mean he's in love with him.

It was of Loki's imaginary coronation.

I haven't seen it and tbh I wouldn't look for Loki himself, but if the scene feels Thorki-ish I'll def check it out.

Winter Soldier is my favorite, too. I'm thinking it will be almost impossible to top, but I hope Civil War makes a valiant effort!

Spoilers for the new Loki scene

(Anonymous) 2015-12-04 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Massively Thorki-ish. It's basically a masturbatory fantasy in which Loki is picturing himself as his perfect brother. And then his mom walks in on him.

ME TOO!!! (especially compared to the new SvB trailer that just came out)

NGL, I watched Winter Soldier because of the new trailer. I just want to see Steve and Bucky reunited.

Here's a mash-up of the 2 trailers:

Up to this point I have been very skeptic of Civil War because I loathe what little I've heard of and read of the comic arc, but it looks like Marvel is doing something a bit different with it this time. I don't mind the whole 'superhero registration act' being brought in, but I'm pleased there seems to be a lot more going on as far as character motivations go. (Steve with Bucky, Tony with his parents, I imagine, and Ultron.)

So while this isn't 'Steve and Bucky reunite and everything is gay and happy, road trip 2k15' (which I totally wanted), I'm still excited for it, because Bucky seems to be a massive presence in the film, and I wanted that as well as a 'proper' reunion with Steve, and it seems like this film is going to give us these things. (And more!)

Ah man, this film is going to hit my 'characters protecting each other' kink so hard.

(I should add that I'm looking forward to seeing Nat again, and how Nat and Steve interact since Nat isn't on Steve's side and I TOTALLY would've thought Nat would've been on Steve's side, and also how Nat will interact with Clint since they're opposing each other too. It's always good to see Sam as well, and I love what little we've seen of Black Panther and Wanda. I'm not only enthusiastic about Steve and Bucky, but it probably appears that way half the time because I'm really enthusiastic about Steve and Bucky.)

I don't want to be too hopeful...but let's not kid ourselves, I'm hopeful.

This could potentially be the best thing that ill happen to marvel in a long time and omg Steve and Bucky.

I've seen all the MCU movies up to Cap 2 and I have to say both Cap movies are my favorite, equally, for very different reasons. I like them all though, even Hulk (which is half a meh movie and half an awesome one.)

Gonna see Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow night, looking forward to that one! :)

Re: MCU Thread

I'm behind on the MCU stuff. The last one I watched properly was Avengers, though I've seen snippets of others. What I saw of Guardians was good. I've liked all the movies I've seen so far. I liked the Hulk I saw too (didn't see the Ang Lee one).

I want to watch in order, so I should go back to watch Iron Man 3 but I mostly want to watch Avengers AoU now to see more Captain America.

GoTG is a lot of fun, much less serious that either Cap film though so don't expect the same tone. But I liked it and enjoyed the character ensemble.

My favorites are the Cap films (yes, both of them) and the first Thor. They were both solid films that I've watched quite a few times. I'll admit that I'm super fond of Evans!Cap, but even beyond the casting and writing (I love Steve in the MCU so, so much) I thought they were a joy to watch. They stood by themselves better than most the other MCU films so far, imo.

GOTG is really entertaining, but it's obviously quite a bit different; the vibe is much lighter and funnier. GOTG is maybe my third favorite MCU film; the soundtrack was amazing and the cast is extremely lovable. I hope you like it! (I thought it was a bit slow in places, but I adored the cast so much that I was able to forgive that. Also, prepare yourself for unexpected feels.)

I don't understand why everyone got so hyped by the Civil War trailer. Can someone explain? I like the MCU, I love the comics and I've been hyped by other MCU trailers, but this one did nothing for me.

Okay.

We're probably hyped because:

- Despite fears it does not look like Avengers 2.5

- It looks like they're doing a character-driven movie (with our favourite characters)

- Let's just say Bucky Barnes fans are happy to see so much of him.

- Sam and Nat seem to be prominent again (we like 'em from the last one)

- Black Panther looks cool as fuck.

I've got to agree with kallanda's points. I didn't want another Avengers film just yet, and with the insane amount of characters said to be in this film, that's exactly what I expected. So knowing that this film is indeed going to focus a lot on Steve and his bff Bucky completely changed my outlook on it; it made me hopeful about it when I wasn't before.

Also, The Winter Soldier is my favorite MCU film by far, and this looks to have a similar vibe. (Spy film, thriller, action film that focuses heavily on character relationships and development, etc.)

And, again, like she said, I really like the other characters that are up front and center. (Nat, Sam, am excited for Panther, and even though I'm growing a bit bored of Tony, I still want to see what this film does with him.)

Plus, the trailer was just really, really well made. I loved the music, it had the right combination of action and character moments without spoiling everything, and it was suspenseful, I just loved it.

I still think TWS is my fave Marvel movie so far, it was really well done. Sam's introduction was great and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in Cap 3.

I try to keep myself as un-hyped as possible though for superhero movies because I don't want to expect too much from them, but I did like the Civil War trailer.

This is how I feel with films lately in general (Star Wars included), but I am failing at that fantastically. I am all but foaming at the mouth with excitement and it isn't good.

I mean, it is at the moment, but it won't be if I watch the thing and am massively disappointed because my expectations were too high.

However, I was SO looking forward to The Winter Soldier at the time of release, and that managed to still be better than I expected. Maybe this will be the same.

TWS really was great, wasn't it? While Cap 1 remains my all-time favorite, Cap 2 is probably the objectively superior movie.

And as a Metal Gear fan, it's kind of fun noticing the parallels between the two ;)
