Honestly JJ is not just a good show, but an important one. If you want to be a part of the cultural discussion regarding white male entitlement and the ubiquitous victimization of women you need to watch this show. Work through your disgust. Disgust is the appropriate resonse, but supporting this show and what it's trying to do is much more important.

Jesus Christ you're an asshole. Stop sucking the fun out of life and go find something you actually enjoy.

I have to say, "white male entitlement" isn't a thing I talk much about.

What about the constant assault on women in our culture? Is that something that affects you?

This might be giving myself away, but I do a lot of talking and writing about bodily autonomy. That's a right that's frequently under attack from white men, but not solely white men--some of the people most devoted to policing women's bodies are themselves women! There are other issues that might divide more neatly along race or gender lines, but I don't get involved in those as much as I do for bodily autonomy.

I agree it's a great thing that the show is portraying mind control as something disgusting, etc, etc, but nobody NEEDS to watch it if that kind of characters-suffering-lack-of-autonomy bothers them that much-- some people have such a visceral reaction BECAUSE they've been victimized/stripped of their autonomy in non-sci-fi ways. You can't talk about being supportive of victimized women if you're going to turn around and try to shame them into watching something that would be triggering.

(I mean, I don't know that OP is a woman, but I'm saying in general, a lot of people who find themselves unable to sit through JJ, it's because they know how it feels to be controlled by someone, and those aren't the people who NEED to be watching the show)
