Re: Has democracy run its course?

We need democracy. Because:
- all the other options are much, much worse.
- democracy is an endless process of improvement. Never optimal, but always striving. Which again is a thousand times better than the option.

Why do you think the other options are worse?

Re: Has democracy run its course?

Because they lack fail-safes, for one. If you put all the power into one hand, what are you going to do when that person turns mad or just stop caring? Besides, power is a corrupting factor in itself, so we need regular hand-overs of power.

That doesn't have anything, in principle, to do with democracy. That's a question of balance of power in the first case, and regular changes in administration in the second case. You could do both of those without ever holding popular elections.

I disagree

A king goes mad: Advisors lock him up and install a regent.
56% of the electorate go mad: No way out.

Or "a king goes mad: he does crazy shit and has crazy heirs - see North Korea."

Re: I disagree

So, what you're saying is that both systems have flaws.

All the other options except one are much worse. And that option is much better is me being in charge. Of course if you are a conservative of any stripe then that is going to be much worse for you personally. Oh yes, you will suffer like the Jews in Old Egypt, so you will.

That sounds much fucking worse.

I'm sorry but I took a vote on it and 100% of me agreed it was an okay proposition.

Thank you for proving my case.
