Welcome to 2015 kink shaming. My condolences.

OP

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I remember when the attitude was "my kink is not your kink and that's ok" but when exactly did it change? Was there an inciting incident or was it a gradual change?

I honestly don't know.

I also remember that "triggers" were called "squicks" and it was mostly your own responsibility to stay away from them, though some people did have the courtesy to warn.

I'm not entirely sure because the change happened in a time where my fandom involvement was pretty low, and when I got back you had the infamous SJW influence. One of the first thing that happened to me wen getting back was a huge wank over rape culture.

Boobs don't work like thaaaaat.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
She's pushing a gun into it....and yeah, I've seen boobs that work pretty exactly that way. Usually they're breast implants. But anyway, it's like the corpse of a cyborg, were you expecting real boob physics to apply here?

DA

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
By the time technology advances to the point of realistic cyborgs I would assume their boobs would be made plenty realistic too.

But yes I've seen this bizarre upturned boob on human characters as well and no, I've never seen it happen with real boobs. Not boobs of this size anyhow

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what boobs you've been looking at, but they do not work that way.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
It's not meant to be realistic. Noses don't work without nostrils either but I never see people mention that about certain art styles. Really, why do people fixate on boobs specifically?

Female character is comfortable in her sexuality and people paint it as being about men? That's their peoblem, not yours. Don't take on their baggage.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I get that. Just wish I could find more people to talk about it with.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-15 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
On the one hand, I really like the main character's design. (I'm assuming the woman with the dark hair and the gun is the main character you're referring to.)

On the other hand, WHAT WRONG IS WITH THAT OTHER CHICK'S BOOBS?! Seriously, I was so distracted by the freaky balloon-boobage that at first I didn't notice half her body is missing! D:

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she's the main character.

That's a robot. I think it's just there for stylish reasons because there's no robot character in the manga.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
This is bullshit. There are lots of yuri manga with sex written by women for women. No one would ever dare to compare Aoi Hana (a story about lesbians) to Valkyrie Drive (a fanservice show with lesbians used as fap material).

If you enjoy the ones who treat their lesbian characters as fap material for men, good for you, but don't pretend that they aren't exploitative.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Lol no. I don't even know this series so I can't comment on whether or not this is an example of "lesbian fap material" or not, but yuri in overwhelmingly written by straight women for women, which isn't anything to be applauded. I've lost count of the amount of yuri material where I check out the artist's other work and it's like 98% yaoi, which makes it extremely obvious that they're just cashing in on things. Some of the artists even admit it. ("I don't usually write yuri but I was asked by [insert publication here] so here it is!") It's really easy to tell at this point whether or not the artist themselves has any love for women.

I think when it is all said and done I would rather take the lesbian fap material written by men. At least I know they genuinely find women desirable.

I thought Aoi Hana was considered "S Class" yuri? As in it's all fluff and they're not really lesbians, they're just having a girlhood fling that the audience is meant to assume is going to end when they grow up and marry men.

I've seen some people comment that anything beyond kissing is "exploitative" because supposedly women prefer emotional bonds and anything graphic is for men. It's stupid, but it happens.

I'm not familiar with either show you mentioned so I can't say anything about that.

That sound interesting. I like yuri manga, but so many are extra-sweet with meh storyboarding for any sex scenes.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
The MC is a former serial killer that works for the government hunting down other killers. She's joined by some other girls. There's also a group of cops that think she's too dangerous to trust and are attempting to stop her. That's the basic plot if you're interested.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I get what you're saying, but I can't stop wincing about how those boobs are freakishly drawn.
Ouch.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Haven't read that manga so can't comment on that.

But yeah, it kind of infuriates me how people can't see shades of gray in a written lesbian relationship.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Not to sound like I'm defending men or anything, but this is the way of things. If you want to make something the morally correct target you paint it as being for men.

She's a god damn psychopath! Like hell anything she would do would be pure and sweet.
And yes, I love this manga too. I would watch the hell out of it if it were an anime.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-16 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
I really like Makamaka, which is written by a man and definitely as fap material, but another lesbian recced it to me, and I loved it for the way it depicted the characters as real people. It was kinda porny, with the sex being over the top at some points, but it didn't feel in any way exploitative or male-gazey to me. more like the work of a sensible dude who had a few nice relationships with women, and, working from that, from a place of love and respect, tries to give it a go and depict what he imagines a relationship between two women would be like. I think the result was pretty decent.

i didn't bother to read this whole thread, but i read the first chapter of that manga thanks to this secret. looks pretty promising, i'll definitely be reading more. thanks, op!
