There's a really good book that deals with sex swap that might interest you. It's called The Archer's Heart by Astrid Amara.

Not OP, but that does look interesting.

Slightly OT, I can't stop calling it genderswap in my head, even though I know sexswap would be much more accurate. Actual genderswap might be interesting: the character's body stays the same, but they no longer feel the same about it or about how people interact with it. It would probably be thornier to write well, though.

Genderswap in that sense would either be a hot mess or be turned into a hot mess by SJWs who think they can speak for all trans folk.

You say that like they do not already do that all over.

I think of this type of genderswap as "swapping the character's relationship to their gender." They start in a situation where their gender matches their body, and swap to a situation where it doesn't. Or vice versa, when it's a trans character being genderswapped in the first place.

It's not a perfect fit, but hey, "genderswap" is an umbrella term with a bunch of subcategories. There's not gonna be any term that perfectly describes all of them.

You'd be the expert on it, Erin.

Was this really necessary?

I wish I knew whether there was some kind of context that makes this comment a witty zinger in your head, or whether you're just trying to make vaguetrolling a thing.

To get technical, I guess I'd consider it a sexswap when the body gets changed but the identity doesn't.

But I'd consider it a genderswap if the character was written so they were always a girl/boy in the universe the author is writing and never had any issues with their identity.
