Rebuilding a fandom presence?
(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 02:18 am (UTC)(link)The reception on DA I felt was pretty good, quite a few fandom comms featured it and it's gotten a fair number of favs so far. But on tumblr, nada. Mostly because I don't have any followers yet. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to get followers, I guess? Posting more original fanart and waiting is the obvious solution.
Anyway I'm not really looking for advice. Mostly just wondering if anyone else has experience the New Tumblr Blues and that feeling of chucking their fanworks into the void and waiting for an echo?

If you want to build up a following for a fandom blog, follow a ton of the fandom's blogs. A lot of those people will check your blog out, see "ahh yes she is a great source of X fandom stuff" and follow you back. You'll get more reblogs and exposure, and it will eventually reach a state of self-growth.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 02:40 am (UTC)(link)Another way to get to know people and get exposure is to add something to another blog's discussion/text post. The person you talked to might follow you back, and if people reblog the text post with your comments, your username will get a lot of exposure while also attaching personality and interests and opinions to your username. Don't do this too much or it might get annoying though.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 02:44 am (UTC)(link)I've already followed a few fandom blogs. The problem is figuring out who's actually active in most of my fandoms. (Plus, they have to tag their shit. I dont' feel like seeing a thousand notp posts on my dash every day.) Also, who isn't a total drama llama. That's been my main problem finding DA blogs. Lots and lots of very active, very crazy fans.

I don't know how everyone's blacklist works, but I was always able to follow people, and then blacklist their url so I didn't see any of their posts, ever.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 03:43 am (UTC)(link)I guess it never occurred to me to just follow then blacklist, haha. Maybe I'll give that a try.
