I'm too afraid of torrenting to look seriously at older anime, but I'm definitely down to watch the older ones that I can easily assess.

There's no doubt that the industry changed though, so I think it's fair to have a preference on what era anime you like however.

Is that the secret to finding decent fic? I don't read much fanfic and as a result I don't browse AO3 much, but whenever I feel in the mood for it I can NEVER find what I want. I fiddle around with the filters and poke around and... ugh. I usually just give up.

I also grew up fascinated by mythology and everything I read/consumed very much emphasised "nobody really believes this any more but these are cool stories either way" so I find it a little strange from that POV that people on platforms like tumblr are so into it that they're apparently active worshippers. BUT they're not even close to hurting anyone in the vast majority of cases so I don't have an opinion on it beyond that. By that I mean...eh live and let live. People believe different things, my opinion isn't usually going to change the minds of someone who believes certain things so no point being obnoxious about it.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. The Star Trek reboots are not at ALL what they should have been. I'm so frustrated.
Though tbh, I wasn't that wowed by Star Wars - but I think it's a much better effort than Star Trek :( Maybe the new TV show will be decent?

There is Barba drama? Are they for or against him? Because I haven't watched a lot of the last 3-ish seasons and am by no means part of the fandom, but he was one of my favorite aspects of the current iteration.
