Oh fuck off, Steven. I know you've been fired from the show, but do you really need to stop by a secrets comm to force your perverted fetish down our throats?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, well, ignoring everything else here, is genderswapping even really a Moffat thing?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you watched any of his run at all? He is big into it. Especially the last season and a half when he's been shoving more and more of it on screen to try and appease the more radical of the alleged fanbase (and in doing so he lost all the core viewers too).

I actually stopped watching midway through the first Capaldi season, but as far as I heard there was really only the one significant genderswap moment? Which... hardly seems like evidence for shoving it down anyone's throat?

Why do you think the fanbase cares about it? I'm just not sure what you're getting at, so I think that would help me understand.

Go back and watch the Ten-into-Eleven regen sequence. It started long before the last season. And there was another massive one since fucking Missy too.

Don't forget his "comedy special" one with Rowan Atkinson and Joanna Lumley more than a decade earlier. He was originally commissioned to do a serious mini episode for that, but turned it into a genderswap comedy because there was no oversight on him. He's been perving over this for a long, long time.

Whoa can I get a source on that information? It seems really weird that he would be commissioned to write 'a serious mini episode' for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day, where comedy is kind of the point of the exercise.

The previous special for a charity telethon (I cannot recall whether it was a Comic Relief or not) was a serious-ish mini episode too. Originally what became Curse of Fatal Death was going to be a fairly dark Tom Baker return in keeping with the previous tone of the show. It was all discussed to death in the fandom materials of the time.

The dark Tom Baker return sounds like Adrian Rigelsford's unproduced script for The Dark Dimension (1993). According to TARDIS Data Core, some very minor elements of that carried over to Dimensions In Time (JNT's naff as hell Doctor Who/Eastenders crossover, made for Children in Need) after it was scrapped.

The Curse of Fatal Death came about 6 years later and has nothing to do with any of those, being from the outset a sketch written for a comedy telethon. Phew, that was a hefty knot of misinformation to unravel.

No this was after DiT, it got recycled again, and before Scream of the S. The idea of making it an out of continuity "parody" was something Moffat developed so he could put his, at the time, fanon ideas on screen. Moffat has been fairly open about this, or at least he was before he got picked up as showrunner.

Missy, the Corsair, the White-dude to black-chick timelord, the countless throwaway lines about it? Hell yeah he is.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That's trying to establish the thing as canon. It doesn't imply to me that it's a major thematic concern of Moffat's, let alone some kind of sexual fetish.

Is this just about being angry Doctor Who might regenerate into a woman?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
i worry that when he does it that the viewing figures freefall will be terminal to the show

the licence fee paying british public don't want it at all

hes lost so many viewers already because of it

he talks about it really creepily at cons and in interviews too

its something he is really into and he has shoved his perversion into canon and masked it as an attempt to appease the commentator press who bitched about him not being feminist

now he is probably going to ram it through the main character and because the uk public have a clear image of the doctor as a white male they are going to turn off and well be back in nineteen eightynine again with no virgin books to pick things up

his fetish is going to get the show cancelled because the people who he is using as the excuse to rework canon like never before are not regular viewers

they just like the concept

"his perversion"

Is genderswap stuff necessarily perversion?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Different Anon I wouldn't say genderswap is perversion but I do feel like Moffat had the Master change genders just so they could make out (because for some reason they couldn't make out as two men, even though they could flirt all day and night.)

Moffat has some really... odd views about women as well so it's hard to view his genderswaps as progressive (especially since they typically mean turning women into a stereotype.)

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
the way moffat does it

yes

yes it is

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
even if it's a kink, it's not perversion

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
a kink can still be a perversion if the pervert seeking it carries it out in a perverted manner

(Anonymous) 2016-02-14 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Given that he's leaving and the selection of the next Doctor is down to Chris Chibnell, I think you're wrong about that.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-14 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
You believe a single word he says? After all the times he's lied, blatantly?
