Unimaginative? Are you kidding? These are amazing and they are now my headcanon.

+1

You mean, like, visually picture Godric, Helga, Rowena, and Salazar as thos characters? That's weird but kinda awesome ;) And I like your choices, especially for Slytherin - not a very stereotypical choice but a perfectly fitting one.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I love these! They're kind of perfect.

Bugs Bunny is the perfect Slytherin. Damn.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. This will be my headcanon from now on, complete with eyebrow waggles and carrot munching.

Now what would that make Elmer Fudd? A Gryffindor, or Vernon Dursely?

He really is. I'm loving this. Can you just imagine the shenanigans he'd pull in a Quidditch match?

I frickin LOVE the idea of Salazar Slytherin being a Bugs Bunny ish trickster troll rather than a Snape-ish stereotypical cunning villain type. I always figured that the things that turned Slytherins into a bunch of elitist sneaky cutthroat ladder-climbers was that "pure blood" bit, which would, as tine went on, cause Slytherins not to be just resourceful imaginative ambitious people, but basically a bunch of upper-class racist twats who happened to also have a knack for political scheming because they were from old racist families whose goals were to keep purebloods in power rather than having all sorts of varied goals.

It also kind of makes Salazar's whole descent into racist isolationism more nuanced/tragic? Like, you can imagine it happened because of slowlt encroaching paranoia and exremism about persecution and wizards being able to live in peace and preservingtheir culture rather than just being a bigoted dick.

I have honestly summed up Slytherin House as "they want to be the very best like no one ever was" before, so I 100% agree with you that the whole pureblood racism thing was what fucked everything over. (also that's a way more interesting way of looking at Salazar, kind of want to read that fic now)

Someday I am going to actually write out the whole "if HP was a World of Darkness game, here are the Houses complete with drawbacks, advantages, and stereotypes" effortpost that's been living in my head for a few years.

It's this sort of POV that makes me like fics that explain Salazar's anti-muggle attitude as a result of someone close to him (like his wife) being murdered by muggles. I do think an event like that could be a good reason why a Bugs Bunny trickster would turn paranoid extremist.

Bugs Bunny as Slytherin--so basically if the twins pranked the Sorting Hat. Because they, like Percy, DO have Slytherin traits, and would probably all be great for that House.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
That was brilliant!

I'm not sure if Diana isn't more of a Gryffindor, but overall it works.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I kind of agree, but ALL superheroes pretty much have to have overdeveloped Gryffindor tendencies in order to enjoy superheroing. Whereas Diana's justice, truth/honesty, and patience are uniquely prominent even compared to other superheroes.

Though I think probably Lois Lane is the best example of a Hufflepuff in the DCU.

Thank you for reminding me how fucking insane it makes me that that poem DOESN'T FUCKING SCAN.

FUCKING HELL YOU STUPID HAT

YOU HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR CENTURIES

HOW FUCKING SHITTY ARE YOU AT ALMOST YOUR ONLY JOB THAT YOU CAN'T MAKE FOUR SHORT STANZAS FUCKING SCAN YOU WORTHLESS SCRAP OF MILLINER'S SHIT

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yah but it has to come up with a new one EVERY YEAR! I'd get pretty lazy about it too after 1000 years ;)

But maybe it actually spends 364 days a year teleporting around giving various wizards in a jam handy swords outta nowhere and only has a few hours to come up with its new song :P

Hats are notoriously bad at poetry. I thought everyone knew that.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I would bypass that by making my sorting poem a parody of "Howl" but it was just too tiring. And besides, who's going to sit still for that?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
i love it

also never been prouder to be a hufflepuff, tho bugs could get me to consider slytherin

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean, this is gorgeous.

New headcanon: "Ain't I a stinker" is the actual Slytherin motto.

Well I don't know anything about Anne of Green Gables and barely anything about Ash in Pokemon, but I think you have a good idea on Diana and a spectacular one on Bugs.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Anne of Green Gables is an incredibly imaginative and curious girl from a neglected background who talks constantly because she has so many ideas, her main character arc especially in the first book is her learning to discipline this raw talent and potential into an incredibly successful academic career.

Ash from Pokemon is a very maverick-type trainer who also constantly risks his life/sacrifices himself to stop disasters which has repeatedly won him the respect and favor of even demigod-level pokemon from the very first episode (also he punched a god once). He is also rather insanely chivalrous towards his pokemon, always protecting them and being extremely solicitous about their happiness and wellbeing.

Much more straightforward/predictable examples than Diana and Bugs but also very fitting. Diana and Bugs though...makes me wonder how old OP was when they first read the HP books/got these mental images because those are very non-stereotypical choices for Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Ooh, interesting. Bugs especially is perfect. His cunning face here looks very Slytherin.
