I just... those are the actual lyrics??? o.O

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
YES, SADLY.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know what this is, but I agree 100% that that line's embarrassing as hell.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Same. Though I had no idea about a boycott.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Why are people boycotting Red Lobster?

Because white people are upset that she sung a song that was meant to be about Black Lives Matter and racism at the Superbowl half-time. It is kind of a stupid song where the lyrics don't really fit the message. And personally I hate the sound of it. But the anger of certain white people is hilarious. Like they didn't realize Beyonce was Black and think they own the Superbowl or something.

I watched the video to see what it was all about and I found both the song and its lyrics to be dumb. I mean, the visuals were fairly cool at times, but wow the song is awful. I guess I just don't appreciate ~black culture~ or whatever lol

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
It just shows what a corporate shill she has become. She sings all about how she has creole roots and uses all sorts of french revival images in her video. The same culture that has created some of the best seafood dishes in the world. But takes her man to Red Lobster when he pleases her. Bey is just a basic ass bitch.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
the only color beyonce cares about is green, let's be honest here.

The lyrics aren't dumb, you're just an ignorant cracker who doesn't understand things that aren't for you.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, explain for the ignorant cracker then, please. What are those lyrics supposed to mean?

... Oh, wow. Those are just...wow. I'm not a huge Beyonce fan, but I know enough of her stuff to know she's capable of way better than that. It's not even embarrassingly bad...embarrassingly bad would be good compared to this.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I've never been a fan of Beyonce (starting back with Single Ladies song), and seeing these lyrics, I'm just shaking my head.

I'm just shaking my head

I just laughed, but that is also a response I understand.

This sounds like something out of a parody.

I don't understand at all why anyone thought a video like this, with provocative imagery about serious injustices and suffering, would be suitable for such a dumbass song.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Those lyrics are fucking hilarious.

Then again, I grew up around someone who loved hip hop in the 90s so I don't get half the amount of second hand embarrassment that I probably should.

Oh come on Queen B, you can do better than that.

Take his ass to Olive Garden instead.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that line was hilarious, personally.

This is probably the whitest thread that I've ever read on fandomsecrets, tbh.

I thought the lyrics to this song were clever. Not all of them, but there are parts with brilliance.

For example, "Ladies we need to get in formation" can also be heard as "get information". A sly way to say "educate yourself".

The Red Lobster line just makes me laugh, especially since the Beyonce effect led to 33% more sales after the Superbowl game.
