I'm trying out a new wheelchair today. I don't get to keep it, but I am still pretty excited.

What are you guys excited about?

This time tomorrow I'll be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean on my way to New York City, so I'm excited about that!

I must admit I'm a tad jealous.

SO has graduated basic, and is moving out to her new deployment, which is training. But! That still means I will actually get to talk to her more frequently now, which is good because I miss her a god damn lot.

Also, only a few days until old tenants are out and new (hopefully more responsible) tenants are in, with a new contract so we won't be paying out the ass for electricity every month. Also THEY HAVE PUPPIES AND I LOVE DOGS. So I'm pretty stoked about this.

PUPPIEEEESS.

I have been wanting to get my own dog for like a year and a half now, but that cant' happen. SO I WILL VICARIOUSLY DOG THROUGH MY TENANTS.

You put access to puppies in the new contract, right?

Have you gone slightly mad living alone yet? Or is the cat a good conversationalist? If yes, seek help.

The cat is a great conversationalist. He tells me when he wants food (constantly) and I tell him he can't have food yet.

He also tells me if there is another cat or a bird outside, and growls if he hears someone coming up the steps.

I leave next Thursday for DC. I'll be there for 10 days (March 3-13th). Hopefully F!S doesn't like...disappear during that time and I come back to nothing. D:

I am very stressed about it. But I am a very stressed person. First vacation that isn't just visiting home. Biggest city I've ever been in. First time riding public transit. Other travel fears that haunt my nightmares.

It is March! Specifically March 3-13. So...NEXT WEEK! O.O

And I am feeling better. I still get a bit nauseous but that could also be nerves/stress as I prepare for my trip.

The fact that I'm done with the Bar exam (hopefully forever). The fact that I'm now really drunk and about to start a game of Cards Against Arda. All the alcohol I have waiting for me at home. Getting to have a couple weeks off to do nothing.

Fuck yeah Bar! Head from Bar directly to bar.

I'm moving in a couple months with my BF about an hour and a half away from where we live now. I'm mostly excited, with a tinge of nervousness because this is going to be my first time living on my own.

Star Wars is going to be out on itunes next month! I'm so hyped.

Ooo, how did your test drive go? You decide what wheelchair you want? (I know you said you were having difficulty getting one, but I assume you testing one is a good sign?)

It was really awesome! I haven't picked a chair yet. I still have another rep coming to show me different brands, but it was fun to try these ones.

The reps are able to come out and show me, but to get funding, the process takes a lot longer than if you can just order something. I'm trying to work out if I can afford maybe the chair and then get funding for the power assistance device or something so I could get it sooner, but it takes at least 6-9 months after application was what the OT was saying, but possibly over a year.

I tried the Batec electric handbike. It's a big wheel with a motor (looks a bit like half a dirt bike) and you can just drive yourself around and not push at all. It was really great. It can go on grass and over bumps and stuff without slowing down and I was able to go down to the end of the block and back on my own, which I can't do in the crappy chair I have now. I love it. Definitely going on my wishlist. I think that might be my number 1 pick for now, but maybe with a Tilite chair. I'm trying them in a couple of weeks, so we'll see. I nearly ran off with this thing though. I didn't want to give it back!
I'm going to talk to the rep about booking in a longer trial period so I can have it at home and use it. I think my OT likes it, too. She was pretty shocked at how happy I looked after using it. I guess I've had a moping face and just not been aware of it until now. Oops?

I still think it's a damn sin how long this shit takes to get through the system, but I'm at least glad that it sounds like you have lots of options, and are enjoying yourself in the meantime! The handbike sounds pretty amazing! Don't believe I've seen one like that IRL, but you'd have a lot of mobility with it and I'm sure it would help with exploring, so I hope you get something similar; sounds like a good match!

And haha, maybe you just looked like a kid in a candystore! (Which is understandable!)
