Unfortunately, very unhealthy people exist. I wouldn't expect these people to have long, productive lives.

Also, just apples? How can you avoid liking cherries or orange juice...

...the mind just boggles.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I personally like cherry flavoured things, but I have huge issues with textures and eating around things. :/

I can eat an apple if I cut it up and take out the core, but not off the core. I thoroughly get squicked by meat still on the bone, especially chicken.

Cherries are gross. Pomegranates are gross. Any sort of bitter fruit is gross. Oh, and I get sick when I drink orange juice.

But I like other fruits than just apples, like strawberries, lemons, blueberries, limes, peaches, pineapples... And I really like vegetables!

(Anonymous) 2016-02-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Corn isn't even a real vegetable, is it? Isn't it technically closer to a grain?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
correct. corn is a grain, not a vegetable in the slightest.

just because things grow from plants doesn't make them vegetables.

My boss eats one vegetable, green beans, and the only fruit I've personally seen him eat is th jelly on his pb&js. He admits to eating like a 5 year old. And is surprisingly healthy.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
He may look deceptively healthy, but I'd bet good money his bowel movements are a nightmare and eventually, he'll pay for that diet.

but...fruit is wonderful

Same. I'm by most standards a fairly unhealthy eater, but even I eat 1-2 pieces of fruit per day. It's actually hard to find a type fruit I don't eat (some I avoid because the acidity gives me reflux, but not for lack of liking).

I'll eat damn near any vegetable you put in front of me, but I can't stand fruit. Guess I'm a savory person?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Am I the only person reading that as tongue-in-cheek...? Literally no one eats only corn and apples as anything outside meat+carbs.

Also, I'm quite lean, 30+, and hate salads. /shrug?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Do you hate vegetables, or just salads? Nothing wrong with preferring cooked veggies. Or even raw veggies that aren't salad.

(And your body at 30 can withstand a whooooole lot that will catch up with you later in life.)

I really hate salads too. They're not really a mainstay in my country's cuisine and I've never taken to them, unlike other "western" things.

I eat salads, just not with enough fondness to make/order them often.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know where you live, OP, but it's not just fat people who are vegetable phobic. A lot of people in the U.S. grew up eating corn and maybe carrots and THAT'S IT. I don't know how they're still alive, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
The well-balanced diet you're assuming is essential to survival is a privilege of modern times and people who can afford it.

My girlfriend isn't fat and likes veggies, but she hates almost all fruit. I do not understand, especially when she hyperbolizes it to "I don't like fruit."

Like? There are so many different types of fruit, how...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
This person may not be fat (depending on portions and physical activity) just eating a terible diet, although there are other ways to eat veggies besides salads.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
If this person doesn't eat salad dressing they could be better off than someone who eats lots of salads.

Sometimes people have weird food issues, like they can only stand the taste and texture of a few foods, and never outgrow that. It might not be a huge percentage of people, but there are a lot of folks around like that, more than being "picky eaters."

Also, some people are allergic to certain sugars in fruit, so that could explain why some people don't eat it.

Food issues can be complex and terrible, but the best thing you can do rather than judge and LOL at bad food habits and how that = fatness, is focus on eating well yourself, supporting access to healthy foods for people in food deserts or with low income and a lack of access to fresh fruits and veggies, and teaching any children you're responsible for to try new things and learn about food, perhaps with gardening or cooking.

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
My program crashed while I was making this secret, so the first line was supposed to say "people on Tumblr who post overweight selfies and answer questions like this". I know it's not always "fat = eats unhealthily so learn to eat better!!!1!!!" but in this case, it isn't just an unfounded assumption.

And yes, if you are over 30 and proud of how you exclude huge food groups merely because "EWWW I'd rather just live off of meat," you bet I'm judging you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Eating only one fruit or one vegetable is a bit baffling to me, but I do understand having food issues... there are a lot of foods I can't handle based not just on taste but often on texture, and some fruit/veg that I can only eat if they're prepared a certain way...

BUT whether or not you like salads has no bearing on what you weigh. I don't just mean 'you can hate salad and be thin', you can eat like a rabbit and be fat, too (and you can hate 'salad' but love other healthy foods). Diet's just a little part of things. (and anyway, 'fat' is not a bad word and people who are fat, even if they also hate salads, are not guilty of some moral failing, they're human beings. Stop making the salad fandom such an unfriendly place for fat people)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
The second one (if not hyperbolic) is ridiculous and unhealthy, sure.

But salads are not the only way to get plenty of vegetables. Not eating salads =/= not eating healthy food.

And these responses could possibly *only* *ever* come from a fat person, right? You already know what's wrong with your attitude, so how about you work a bit hard on rectifying it.
