She is going to suck as WW. Diana was an Amazonian and kicked ass at a time when women didn't have superheros. This chick is going to make her a joke. A sexist dirty joke. I wish they never rebooted Wonder Woman.

According to a short review I read today, Wonder Woman is supposed to be really good. I don't quite believe it either, but I also don't think you should judge a movie you haven't seen yet.

How can it be a reboot if it's the first attempt at a standalone live action film? I mean, I can understand not wanting it to be done this way, but you have to ask them to do it at some point.

Just so we're operating from the same page, which version of Wonder Woman do you like? And don't say "The one who was strong and feminist and kicked ass" because that doesn't mean anything. Do you like the Marston-era WW? The 50s WW? 70s TV Linda Carter WW? 60s kung fu WW? Maybe the George Perez run? DCAU WW with the Batman flirtation?

This isn't some kind of "fake geek girl" quiz, I'm just trying to establish, specifically, what you feel Gadot is not going to live up to.

I wouldn't describe myself as Jewish but I was raised with Jewish holidays and going to synagogue. Trust me, there's a HUGE difference between being critical of the actions of a goverment and being against that government's religion. People IN Israel are allowed to speak out and they're not seen as self-loathing so can we stop with this assumption?

I just think she's a bit skinny for my image of WW. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the movie.

she bulked up a lot, but she's fighting against her own body type here. I'm still more worried about the script than anything but we haven't seen any of that yet so just have to wait.

Obviously you can't judge a film based solely on trailers and press coverage, but what I've seen so far looks surprisingly good.

For one thing, I'm getting the impression that the WW film is going to have a more idealistic bent than MoS or Batman v. Superman, and that pleases me. I've always thought Superman and Wonder Woman are both inherently idealistic and positive characters, and I really don't like the GRIMDARK gloom'n'doom aesthetic and themes that the DC movieverse overall seems to be going for. Not all superheroes should be Batman at his darkest. Even Batman doesn't always have to be Batman as his darkest.

So yeah. I want my Supes and Wondy media to be kind and optimistic and hopeful. MoS was a huge failure in that respect and BvS looks like it may also go in that direction, but if WW gets it right that'd be awesome.

what does it matter if someone is pro-Palestine or pro-Israel?

it seems to be a big thing to care about in America (didn't Javier Bardem get threatened with blacklisting from a producer for signing a letter condemning Israel's actions?) but I don't get why it's such a big thing to be one way or the other.
