Re: Any Cosplayers?
The acting part is really what makes a good cosplay. If you're not up to the task, you shouldn't really be cosplaying at a Con. It's perfectly acceptable to make a costume specifically for a photoshoot without wanting to interact, but the reason you walk the halls at a Con is to show off how well you know the character and their mannerisms.
One thing I'll say though, is even if you're a shy person irl it really helps to be in costume. You usually look different enough that most people won't immediately recognize you out of costume, so when I've cosplayed I've felt much more confident by virtue of that small degree of anonymity. Plus, people love it when you can act like their favorite character irl. They go nuts. It's a huge ego boost, and even if you start out shaky you can usually get really into it by the end of the day.

I even fucking said in the post that it's fine to do other things, but seriously if your intent is to wander the Con halls and you don't want people to interact with you (ie. ask for poses, ask you to do a specific yell, ask for in-character photos), then you're in the wrong place.

Re: Any Cosplayers?
But 90% of the day if you're cosplaying at a Con you're walking the halls or the dealer's room or sitting in panels (or if you're an artist you're at a table, but I assumed OP was not).
