Why not just avoid it altogether?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it makes me laugh.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to be one of /those/ fans, but it is kinda an important show.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it? I know nothing about it except that it's a show and now I'm curious.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
And it's certainly showing that down our throats. It is also very noticeably not funny in the least, which is a major fault for a comedy in my eyes. So it can be as important as it wants, I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole.

There must be a way to portray normal people in a funny way, without it being so arrogantly repellent.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt - I don't watch things because they're important, I watch things because I like and enjoy them.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's why men get to flood the media with their shit, and media having the pervasive impact it does on the world, this is also the reason women are a second class citizens in our culture. Because you and people like you would rather be entertained than do something to make the world better. I mean, it's not like watching one dreadfully unentertaining show is all that much work. It's not like it take away your "Entertaining" media. How about you support a woman in media AND watch your dumb entertaining garbage?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you stopped to consider there might be a number of women who like "men's shit," too?

Have a cup of chamomile tea, radfem anon. And if by chance you're not radfem, keep in mind that watching TV in and of itself is not actually activism. You could watch exploitative rapefests 24/7, but if that's all you're doing, i.e. your viewing habits aren't being monitored by the networks, you're not buying merchandise, DVD boxsets, etc. then the effect you will have on what media is made will be zero.

Yes, we need more shows about real women and their lives.

Yes, we need to support shows like this.

And yes, the main reason for that is so we can get more shows for us and we won't be stuck having to watch this shit anymore. It's fucking terrible, but its also the only female ran, female focused, and female positive show out there at the moment. This is a tragedy, because 1. Lack of representation is harmful and 2. this show really really is absolute shit.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, Kimmy Schmidt isn't great, but it's better than Girls, and it meets all of those criteria (female ran, female focused, and female positive). Also, since it's on Netflix, it makes a difference for most of it to watch it, whereas watching Girls without a Nielsen box is meaningless.

Self-important maybe. Just like the fans.
And yeah, not sorry, I don't support Polansky movies either, why should I support this show? (And unlike this show, Polansky movies are actually good.)

I've thought about doing this, but I find it more entertaining when I watch with a friend and seeing both of our reactions because of what ridiculous things the characters come up with next. We yell at the TV a lot.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Is this a show? I've never heard of it. What's it about?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing. Move along, please.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That terrible?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-26 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It follows the lives of a group of young, privileged, women in New York. Most focus is on Hannah, who's an aspiring writer.

Season 1 trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4tY-2PTFPg

It's now at season 5. And if you want to see Kylo Ren have a lot of awkward sex, this is the show for you!

Wow... nope. Unless they stuff starts blowing up, or super powers are involved, I think I'll pass.

Is it bad

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
that I want to at least look up clips because I think Adam Driver is kind of "uniquely" attractive and want to see him in sex scenes?

Re: Is it bad

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
It might be bad, but you're not alone in that. Lots of his sex scenes can be found on youtube.

Yes.

Hey, I demand trigger warnings for kinks like this. (Sicko!)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok how and why is this any different than Sex in the City?
