See I feel sort of opposite about them hooking up with other people - to me it's sort of like, they're their own person? So good.

Adoribull is very optional, though? It's really easy to avoid having the two of them hook up even if you don't romance Dorian or Iron Bull--if anything, it's much harder to get the romance to start than not.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I hated Fenris/Isabela pairing up if you didn't romance them. That bugged me, because for one, I hated how Isabela goaded him about being a sex slave, and for another, I got defensive of both because I only like to same-sex romance them and it was annoying to see them go het. Hey, I win for being even more petty.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't do either of those things but even so Fenris/Isabela still felt weird and sudden to me. Like at one act Isabela is goading him about the slave thing then the next they're hooking up? When did that happen? Where was the buildup? Was there any? WTF?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-13 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I can believe that Isabela would want to sleep with Fenris. I just don't see how Fenris reciprocates that. I mean, I suppose it gives Fenris some depth, that at times even he is able to chill and enjoy himself and not simply be angry all the time. But hey, I assume that their "relationship" is just sexual and not anything emotionally meaningful, so.

I figured that they hooked up now and again for no-strings funtimes once Fenris realized that Isabella is a cupcake with snark frosting.

"go het" about canonly bisexual characters.

You aren't petty, you're a bigoted douchebag.

lmao okay

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
lol haha "going het?" what does that even mean? I'm not disregarding or denying anyone's sexuality. I don't like the adoribull ship and I don't like talibrations. And I think it's lazy writing to just pair them off with your companions by the end of the game just because of squad banter. Also lol, Dorian and Garrus are gender locked romance options. Is it the standard to attack anyone who follows that?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor hets LMAO

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
must be so tough to be in an opposite-sex relationship lol

I actually ended up shipping Bull/Dorian because my Inquisitors romanced Cullen and Josie respectively, but my m!Hawkes always romance Fenris and my f!Hawkes always romance Isabela, and my canon Shep romanced Garrus. So, I also feel kind of jealous and petty about the NPC romance thing. I can OT3 them really easily, but it feels wrong without Hawke and Shepard included for me.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the opposite. I love it, and I can't romance them on subsequent playthroughs after I find out. I feel like I've cockblocked my friends if I do. I never seem to go for the ones who do hook up with other people though (Alistair, Anders, Cullen and Kaidan are my first and canon romances)

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I sorta feel you OP. Adoribull is one of my very few notps, so even in my playthroughs where I haven't romanced Dorian I've made sure their romance won't trigger (don't bring them out together, make sure Cole is never in the party with them). Thankfully it's very easy to derail their romance.

I also always romanced either Fenris or Isabela if I knew they were both going to be party members in the third act so that THOSE conversations didn't trigger, since I found that relationship pretty off-putting for a lot of reasons.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I just have to laugh at how diabolical these things sound when you're talking about videogames and plotting them out. :P

"I'm going to make absolutely sure these two people don't get together by preemptively never letting them interact. No, I'm not an evil mastermind!"

Out of curiousity, you and anon below both said Adoribull (...ew, I'm not even really in this fandom, the only thing I know about Dragon Age is TRANS GUY CHARACTER WHEEEE (this is totally not sarcastic, I'm also a trans guy and he seems like such a cool character too), but this is such a stupid ship (I wrote "shit" by accident) name) is your NOTP, care to elaborate why?

I'm fine with companions getting together - for example, I like Isabella and Fenris, and I love romancing them myself - but Dorian and Iron Bull is one of my few "no way in hell" pairings, so I'm relieved it can be avoided.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, both you and anon above you mentioned "Adoribull" (see above comment by me, this is a stupid sounding ship name) is your NOTP, care to elaborate on why to assuage my burning curiousity? I'm not in this fandom myself, I'm just very curious.

I don't get it.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Are you really this possessive?

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's just a simple preference that rubs me the wrong way. I figured I'd make a secret about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
same here. I alway romance Dorian because I HATE adoribull >_<. blergh.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-14 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
I, on the other hand, put in an extra hundred hours of gameplay trying to trigger the Adoribull script. Each to their own.

I didn't like Dorian nor Bull as a romance option (and ended up romancing nobody) so them hooking up was totally alright with me.

But I could never play a DA2 run without romancing Fenris because Isabela/Fenris is my total NOTP and I would hate it to happen in a playthrough.

I don't mind most cases, but Iron Bull and Dorian border on NOTP for me, and probably would be were I actively involved in the fandom - and I'm usually all about romance between individuals from opposing factions. If Dorian needed to get a boyfriend I think I would've preferred Blackwall.
