O...k I will take your word for it.

Someone sounds butthurt about JLaw being popular.

I think the movie looks fun, and don't really care if mystique is blue or not throughout.

This, and this.

I think more people are tired of her than love her in these movies.

I think it is stupid she is not blue more often. She is supposed to be "mutant and proud". I think she is just as tired of being in these movies as many fans are of her being in them.

While I doubt JLaw was able to *force* the directors to do anything, having Mystique spend most of the time appearing human kind of shits all over her characterization in the X-Movies, unless there's some hella good justification for it.

I sort of get the impression that Mystique is going to die in this film. It's not that I want her to, but JLaw said this is her last X-men movie. This seems like the kind of movie that calls for a sacrifice.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
We know, we know, she's evil because the Hunger Games should have starred a WOC. But it's time to get over it already.

Lmao somebody sounds bitter...

Anyways Mystique is my all time favorite female villian so I was always going to see the Xmen movies regardless of who's playing her.
Plz find your chill OP.

I don't mind Mystique in these movies but I do hope she isn't human looking too much, her being 'mutant and proud' is kind of a big deal. But ultimately my reason for watching this atm is Storm and Psylocke.

So...you're angry at the lead actress because bad writing?

And because she won't wear blue makeup.

That's all?

okay

ETA: ok apparently the blue thing kinda messes up this character if you don't do it. So I can get that. Though if the directors let her get away with it I'd also call it bad writing - having an actor who refuses to get in character should be a dealbreaker, and sacrificing good writing in favor of popular casting seems pandering and dumb to me.

I just finally got around to watching the trailer and I agree. I don't hate JLaw, I liked her in the Hunger Games, but I am pretty sick of hearing about her. We get it, she's Hollywood's "It" girl and one of the like three big name actresses who get to do leading action roles. I thought the last X-men movie unnecessarily increased her role, obviously due to JLaw's star power and honestly I don't think the character is interesting enough to be the lead.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there any reason why the filmmakers can't CGI color her blue? Is that really that hard to do?
If ILM can create Jar Jar Binks, surely coloring a woman blue and maybe giving the skin a little texture must be easier.

I hate this Mystique so much. I don't like any of the characterizations of the X-Men in these movies.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-03 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So, you hate feminists, right?

Also, I wouldn't worry, it seems pretty clear that the movie makers hate feminists too, that's why they're going to kill her off.

I'll still take it being about Mystique over it being about Wolverine. At least her character is interesting. He's dull and completely overrated.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-04 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
pretty sure she had a severe allergic reaction to the blue paint, even the newer color. it's the filmmakers' job to work around that, she's not a quitter or lazy for not wanting her body to be a fucking rash.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-04 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
yes, yes - every big/important female character ever is a Mary Sue, we get it.

where the hell do you get the idea that she's leading the X-men, out of curiosity? da fuck do you think Xavier's gonna be doing in this movie? (That said - if something happens to him so that he can't, who else can do it in his stead within these movies? Scott's a young n00b and so is Jean, Wolvie's not around yet, Beast though brilliant is not a leader or a field commander of any kind, and Magneto's busy being one of En Sabah Nur's horsemen.)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-04 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I am offended on your behalf, anon. How dare they?! To take the biggest box office draw in the world, whom they still have under contract, & get as much use out of her as they can before she leaves the franchise never to do another super-hero movie again. And also to have her character, a shapeshifter, spend most of her time looking normal! It's just irresponsible not to make her spend six hours a day in makeup!

That said, a prima donna (even if JLaw is one) is not a Mary Sue. Different things.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-04 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Every time I see the name J-Law, the actor Jude Law comes to mind.

Is he still relevant?

I read somewhere (fairly certain that it was Entertainment Weekly) that after wrapping XMFC, she started doing training for Katniss by running and discovered that despite being out of makeup and presumably scrubbed clean for several weeks, when she started to sweat, her sweat was blue because the paint had gone so deeply into her skin.

And I'm sorry but putting up with that kind of thing is unreasonable to ask of an actress. It's messed up and borderline dangerous.

I have no problem with her not wanting to be spray painted and walking around naked for most of the movie. But from what I've seen the wider reaction is that people hate her and are *really* eager to see her choked by Oscar Isaac, so I'm sure you don't need to keep your views a secret.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-05 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
When I see over the top rage like this, I can't help but think there's a misogynistic tinge to it. It's fine not to like her. But calm down. She's just an actor. It's just a movie. Why are you so damn worked up.
