Who here's already getting anti-hyped for Detroit: Become Human?

I can't be the only one who thinks it's weird
I'm not going to scream racism because I literally don't think David Cage understands what's weird about this. I think he just sees Detroit as "oui oui that car place." But it's WEIRD.
I like story-driven games like this a great deal, but honestly I'm majorly squicked out by people being treated like objects, and that original short kind of traumatized me a little. So I'm not sure. I might stick to let's plays.
Re: Gaming Thread
Also, Detroit: Become Human seems interesting on its face but it's yet more David Cage jerking himself into a stomachache over his perceived intellect.
Wake me up when The Last Guardian finally comes out.
Re: Gaming Thread
It just managed to look really... Silent Hill-ish? That was my takeaway.
Re: Gaming Thread
I've heard that there might be some methods of self-defense in RE7, so I'm not completely disinterested. But I'm really sick of Amnesia clones. The only one I even like is SOMA.
Oh, I will say that I got a small smile over the intro to the trailer with the telephone; it reminded me of the hours I spent plugging away at the original House of the Dead.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-15 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)However, I've also heard about the kerfuffle with Battlefront and how the main game was only okay but most of it was in the extra downloadable stuff, which people thought was a ripoff. I was considering getting the PS4 with the Battlefront bundle but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.
Also, can you download games to the PS4? Like, can you buy stuff on Steam and then play it on PS4 or is that only for stuff on the computer? What other games should I look into getting?
I'd really love to hear other people's opinions since I'm not entirely sure what I should be looking for when I consider getting a console.
Re: Gaming Thread
I don't have a PS4, so I have no actual opinion either way on how they work, but depending on what kind of games you like, I may have suggestions.

Skyrim is getting a remaster for PS4 in the future, and it's a solid game. There's DLC for it, but all of it is optional, so unless you want the extra story or are an achievement whore like I am, you don't need to pick it up.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 were remastered and released for PS4, if you played either/both of those on Playstation 2 back in the day. The remaster includes all the International stuff (dark aeons, etc), so they'll give you a lot of play time to complete everything.
Dark Souls is good if you like to rage at things, but I'm not sure if the first two released for PS4 or are able to be played on it.
Just going through my Steam catalog and seeing what might interest you that also has Playstation releases, you might be interested in Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and The Witcher as well. Only the last Dragon Age and Witcher games have been released for PS4 though, and none of Mass Effect was until the new one comes out next year. I don't know if Playstation has a backwards compatibility system that includes the older ones though, sorry. :(

And no, you can't buy games on Steam and be able to play them on PS4 -- Steam is PC only. (However, if you buy the PS3 version of Portal 2 it comes with a Steam key and cross-platform play, but that's a major exception.)

Re: Elder Scrolls
(Anonymous) 2016-06-16 02:41 am (UTC)(link)Oblivion is great if and only if you're playing on a PC with mods to fix the level scaling (and possibly an appearance overhaul). It's a decent game and there's a lot about it I like, but I think Oblivion really works better if you're already familiar with Tamriel. Skyrim and Morrowind are both much more interesting world-buildy games with much better level design and better questlines. Oblivion is pretty bland in comparison.
Re: Gaming Thread
Forgot just how fantastic this series was for co-op. Playing Halo Anniversary (all five games in HD, with half of them graphical remakes) and it has to be the best gaming deal on the market.
Re: Gaming Thread
And I'll kill him if I see him in game. He better not be essential.
Re: Gaming Thread
Fandom-wise: I don't much care about Daud either, but my bigger squick is the Emily/Outsider shipping. I have started a nice block list for that.
