Pedo-panic is fucking ridiculous these days. Yes, I get that we're sensitized to it now by media, and higher awareness is a good thing, etc.

OP - Not that exact example that I know of, but considering the examples I've seen it's not a stretch. The Kylo/Hux one was Hux counts as underage because Hux is shorter. If adult characters are shown in flashbacks as younger, you can't ship them as adults because underage. If characters are explicitly adult but the show was intended for children that counts as underage. If characters are both adults but there's an age gap then that counts as underage.

Because I can't stop the thoughts that if shipping [XYZ] is as bad or worse than what to me then I really am terrible person and deserved every moment of it.

I mentioned this in a secret earlier. Apparently at least one reason people claim pedophilia is because they are deaged in fic at least sometimes. (I don't read it, but this is what someone said when complaining about the fic.) One person was up in arms because someone wrote them as 17 and 20 in a fic. (And that is obviously pedophilia and disgusting, right? Sigh.)

A popular fanartist drew the couple in a cartoony, stylized way where Hux looked distinctively more "ukey" (thinner, shorter, more delicate) than Kylo. Another fan, who happened to ship Hux as an unusually burly seme/top, started reblogging said artist's art with comments that it was tantamount to pedophilia. The artist peaced the fuck out and left the fandom before some crazy asshole tried to report her as a pedo to her boss or something.

I kind of wanted to ramble since I didn't want to get any more wall-of-texty in my secret.

First it's all fictional. Even if the ship is a underage ship? It's no more real child abuse than writing about murder is real murder. I might avoid it, but it's still fiction.

And because it's fiction, it's really damn insulting to say someone writing a story or drawing a picture is somehow doing something worse than the hell I went through. I'm just trying to picture someone trying to explain that writing about a fictional murderer is worse than actually murdering someone and just... it makes no sense.

Second, I hate it but I know sometimes some ships are going to attract the pedo-screamers. I can kind of mentally prepare. When it comes out of the blue and really makes no sense it hits me a lot harder. It's the same as when I see the long rants of 'helpful reminders' when I'm not expecting them, and they can pop up anywhere online that's vaguely fannish.

Third, I still think if they want to be helpful, tags and content warnings! Let me decide what I want to see. If a pairing bothers me even though it's 'non-problematic' then just tag it, I'll blacklist it, people who like it can find it, everyone's happy.

Finally, yeah I know it's not really about me. It's horrible harassing trolls flinging the worst thing they can think of at someone and then trying to twist things around so anyone who says "Hey, stop being a dick!" is 'defending pedophilia!' It's still making it weirdly personal.

Continuing... And maybe I'm just not into that fandom that much, but do people get up in arms over Bob's Burgers because the underage kids get crushes and kiss? Like are these people going after new Voltron fans because 'we don't know how old any of the pilots are yet so we have to assume underage until the show tells us otherwise.'sending the Bob's Burger crew hatemail and harassing tweets?

If not, is it because it's not gay, or because it's so much easier to harass fans than it is to harass the adult men in charge on a show? Or both? Because you'd think they'd be much more up in arms over Louise getting a crush on a pop star 'normalizing' the idea that underage people get crushes and that doesn't wait until you're 21 and meet someone non-problematic.
