What's the worst product change you've experienced?

Any kind of product. Food, gadgets, restaurants, etc.

The only shampoo and conditioner my skin didn't react to and my hair looked good with. The ONLY one. And they stopped making it completely.

Same here (made hair look good, not that my skin reacted). I was in love with Herbal Essences Intensive Blends, then they stopped making it. They still make the old stuff, but it's not the same.

Skittles replacing Lime with Green Apple. Not only is the Green Apple flavor gross, it completely overwhelms every other flavor when eaten together.

Yes. It's so fucking petty, but Jesus, yes. That was terrible.

Fucking last.fm revamped their site, like, a year ago, and in the process got rid of a ton of functionality and features, and have slowly been adding it back ever since. And my favorite functionality (Neighbors, which I found to be a really amazing way of finding good music recs) still isn't back and I have no idea if they're ever going to bring it back.

Like, I get that releasing new features is a lot of work, but it's just hard to see why a redesign was necessary at all, let alone why they had to release it at a point where a ton of stuff didn't work and still doesn't.

Not the worst, but I want to complain:

I'm pretty unhappy with Tumblr changing from a page to compose new posts to a...thing displayed over the dashboard. It's a waste of bandwidth.

Also getting rid of the dashboard's page url after I reblog something, that's bad. I lose my place sometimes.

And now the little pop-up that says "Draft saved to ------" or "Post queued for ------" always says, "Post reblogged to ------" for NO GOOD REASON.

But hey, at least they added floaty ads in the right margin, whoo.

Tumblr seems to change things just to piss off Tumblr users.

Sensodyne made this foaming toothpaste--came in a can. I liked it a lot cus it didn't make my mouth feel like burning. All regular tooth pastes just make my mouth feel like it's on fire.

They stopped fucking making it. I had to go back to using a gel paste--and while I'm used to it again, initially it was giving the burning sensation as well, though not as bad as regular paste.

This one is closer to home. One of our local meat packing/producing businesses got bought by Maple Leaf foods. Who then proceeded to change the recipe for the hotdogs our formerly local company made and the new ones tasted horrible. People complained so much that after a year or so, they changed the local brand back to the original recipe.

8-Tracks changing their rules to remove a lot of the songs stored on their system and also reducing the number of tracks you can have by the same artist. Ruined several of my best fanmixes, and I didn't have them saved on my computer to fix.

1) tumblr not showing the number of new posts of your subscribed tags anymore. They took away an actual function, a whole way of interacting with tumblr.
Instead they heap on new cosmetic gimmickry... like randomly showing posts of the tag you subscribed to onto your dash -facepalm-

2) they used to make green "Aromat". I ate it with everything as a kid. Then they stopped making it. Took my parents months to wean me off that waning green Aromat stash. I got used to the yellow "Aromat", which was the same product without herbs and just 100% glutamate.

Minor ones:

Lipton changed their formula for their bottled iced tea to include stevia, but I feel they failed to remove enough sugar to balance it, so the result was a sweeter drink. Given that I have grown sensitive to too much sweetness... yeah, I jumped brands when and Aussie-made iced tea started appearing in Brisbane stores.

The sushi stall in the shopping centre I do my weekly shopping at changed hands a year or so ago and the new people had a different way they made ricepaper rolls. They put less salad in and added Japanese mayonnaise, and I found it gross. I didn't stop buying from them, I just switched on to nigiri packs instead. The large shoppign centre to the south had a massive refit of one section and a Vietnamese bar moved in which has good ricepaper rolls (with no mayo).

Online:

I don't like the way Twitter changed so if you want to look at a particular post on browser, it comes up as a pop-up instead of going to it's own page. Even if you open it in another tab, you just go to the account's profile page with a pop-up.

TastyKakes, the snack cake of my childhood. I visited my old neighborhood this month and seized the opportunity to buy a pack of the cream-filled cupcakes I used to crave, but the deliciousness is a thing of the past.

I don't know whether it's the recipe or me that's changed.

Back when I was still buying locally available make-up, I would once in a blue moon find a shade that was light enough for my skin tone, even if the colour wasn't right but beggars can't be choosers.
Every single time, the shade I bought would get discontinued after just one or two months.
I'm now using an imported Korean BB-cream and it's better than any make up I had before, but it still retroactively annoys me.

Paul Newman brand dressing - back in the 90s, they sold this light Italian dressing that was weird to me at first, but then I acquired a taste for it and ended up loving the hell out of it. Then one day, it disappeared... and in its place, a shitty, forever inferior collection of a chemistry class foul water experiment... an orc jizz flask masquerading as light Italian dressing. "Dynamite Lite" it was called. It was so disgusting, and was too much water and vinegar, not enough viscosity, spices, or flavor (that you can reasonably expect in a technically watered down dressing).

Windows Vista was so dumb when it first came out that it completely soured me towards PC type computers.

I went from Windows XP to Mac OS X the first chance I got. I didn't even care much that I initially had to shell out extra for an Apple computer, as foolish as that may seem to some. And I don't naively think that Apple is perfect, either.

Just sort of better than slugging it out with an out of date operating system that had worked out well for me for years. Every thing I needed to do with XP, just short of messing around with the registry, I could get done, with a minimum of fuss, or at worst, one or two tech support calls every blue moon. With the first release of Vista, I couldn't even get a solitaire game to stay in a consistent sized window during the course of a five minute game. I thought this was lazy of Microsoft to release an OS that was obviously not past beta testing. ( And, no, I am too stupidly picky to care that there were five to twenty minute fixes available to anyone willing to read a couple of computer magazine articles. I wanted the people behind Vista to give their users a patch and an apology. They eventually did, the apology being Windows 7. )
