"But how do you clean this without a dishwasher?"

...Hate to see what you'd do in places without toilets, dude.

"Why should I have to.... dress up for a job interview? ... get up in the morning like an adult and be motivated to look for a job? ... listen to my fiancé, a man I already refer to as husband, and pay any attention to his concerns and/or spend time with him? ... have to go without luxuries when I don't have a source of income?"

Said by an infuriatingly entitled twat who had zero incentive to move out of their parents' house. It's weird how you can feel sorry for someone and want to slap the hell out of them at the same time.

The rich girl from my uni theatre group who went on and on about how she had just bought her third super expensive designer handbag that month and oooh she shouldn't have but she just couldn't resist. That in itself wouldn't have been that bad but she said it to another girl who had just talked about not being sure how to pay the rent for that month (and there is no way little Miss rich girl missed that).

I hate that fake guilt humblebrag so much. "I was sooo bad. I sooo shouldn't have. It was like two thousand dollars. So badddd." Then exercise some self-control and fucking don't.

"We're only allowed to drink water during work hours. But, some people don't like water, you know."

...

Mostly my thoughts were "please don't have children".

Me, interviewing to be a babysitter for a new family: So what is your timeout policy?
The mom, giving me a dirty look: Timeout? Oh, you don't need to worry about that! Kevin would never do anything that would require a timeout.

This family was also the richest family I've ever sat for. The kid was seven and had a king sized bed and multiple gaming platforms in his room hooked up to his 50 inch television. It's no surprise that he was a total spoiled brat, and the mom only called me to babysit once.

"We have maids for that sort of thing at home."

This was said in Basic Training Camp. In the barracks. I think somebody told her her maids weren't here.

"Why are you going to a public school? Those are no good. They take anyone."

Said to me by a friend when we were talking about where we were going after we graduated from our private elementary school.

In my high school environmental science class, going over something about endangered and extinct animals, the girl next to me told the class her family had bought poached elephant ivory to replace some keys on their antique grand piano. That, or the girl who said she didn't have to worry about college, she'd get into UC Berkeley because her parents had an auditorium named after them there.

I really hated high school. Middle school was as bad for bullying, but at least all of the students were middle class to poor.

Spoiled: When I had college freshman orientation, my school had an orientation for the parents too. My mom went, and when we met up again, she told me one of the parents in her session asked how often the maids would be coming to clean the dorm rooms. He was apparently flabbergasted when he was told that the students were responsible for cleaning their own dorms. Sadly, through friends who were RAs, I've heard that given the types of people our school attracts, he wasn't the last to ask a question along these lines.

Sheltered: Senior year of high school, some friends and I were talking and somehow sex came up. However it happened, we asked our sheltered friend why people have sex and her immediate response was: "To make babies." Period. Like that's the only reason. I've also heard that sophomore year, her class watched Pleasantville and she didn't understand the significance of the orgasm being what brings color to the world.

"Come on, just buy it! It's only ninety dollars! That's like, what, a week of Starbucks?" The person who said it is one of my friends and I love her to bits, but she grew up with rich parents and says some weird things from time to time.

"I don't think I'll be vacationing there again; the place has far too many poor people."

Yes, really.

It's a tie between "Why can't your dad just buy a new car?" and "Timeshares really aren't expensive at all!", both said by the same person.

Classmate in, I think, 8th Grade: "Ugh, my Mum never packs anything I like for my lunch."
Me, disturbed: "You don't make your own lunch?"
Her, baffled: "No?"
Me, more disturbed: "I've been making my own lunch since I was four."
