14. I know exactly what you mean about liking them out of sheer desperation, but I don't understand what you mean by them being "less lame" than what few others there are. I mean, just look at the small sample we get in SSB. Zelda > Peach. Samus >>>>> Peach. (I love Samus eternally even having never played a Metroid game, just for how awesome she was in Subspace Emissary.)

I really love Geass. Don't get me wrong. Easily one of the better shows I've seen in years. So I'm not trying to knock it, it's just that I'm not sure I'd put it in my top five overall.

But have you watched much in the way of other mecha animes? Maybe if Gundam isn't your thing, but you like the politics, you'd like Escaflowne, for instance. Or if you haven't tried the original Gundam, I'd really recommend it to anyone who liked Geass. Seriously.

I can't stand mechs nine times out of ten. I adore Geass, and right now I'll say it's one of the best things I've ever watched, even admitting that I don't watch series as often as I read them.

For one, I have never watched an anime that relied so much on "lol oops" or lucky coincidences to move the plot along. Did you not laugh at "United States of Japan"? 62 - I agree. I think a lot of people fail to distinguish between sympathizing with a character and the character's status. A lot of people don't sympathize with Creon of Antigone (although most can recognize that we are supposed to feel some measure of empathy for him); in the same way, Light is a very tragic character (although I suppose many would argue that he isn't really a tragic hero - I would need to think on it a bit more before giving my opinion), but that doesn't mean that every has to like him/sympathize with him.
