Kink shaming

Especially the kind that actually discourages authors.

Judging other people's preferences, especially if someone is really passive aggressive about it like making clear references to someone else in their post without saying their name or writing a fic explicitly to insult someone else's ideas (both these things have happened in my fandom recently).

Ship shaming. Because what's the freaking point to ship shaming when 80% of fic is driven by one (or more) pairing(s) anyway? Someone in the vast ocean of the internet is going to ship it too.

Insisting to no end that ur show or ship is somehow VERY PROGRESSIVE rather than just saying "yo i like this"

Because every damn time that happens, later on in the show's run, something just shits all over that notion. Apparently this is The 100, OINTB, and whatever else is killing lesbians /doesn't watch TV.

This. I just like what I like man, if it happens to be diverse or whatever then cool but it doesn't make me a better person for watching/shipping the thing.

But I think I'm getting too old or tired for the bulk of fandom, leave me alone to like things in peace.

"word of god" You invested hundreds of hours creating that work. If it doesn't say want you want for it to say, you failed.

Seeing LGBTQ tags filled with politicized ship wank. Your headcanon is not my political crisis.

I mean, look at Super Mario Bros.. The directors sincerely believe they created a great brotherly love story.

A straight guy: "I don't have anything against slash, I'm just not interested in it because I'm not attracted to men."
Fandom: "That's okay, everyone has their own personal preferences!"

but,

A straight girl: "I don't have anything against femslash, I'm just not interested in it because I'm not attracted to women."
Fandom: "Uhm that's bullshit sweatie. Shipping has nothing to do with who you're attracted to, and if it does for you then you're shallow and need to change the way you ship. Just admit you have internalized misogyny and fetishize gay men and blah blah lengthy discourse"

(FYI: I'm not a straight girl, and I like both types of slash.)

SJWs that make Fandoms a tense, toxic place to be. Just, fuck off back to wherever you came from and let us enjoy our "problematic" fandom in peace, thanks.

Ship Wars and people insisting their headcanon is "The one and only way! Every other way is WRONG!"

Calling people pedophiles for being attracted to fictional teenagers. Especially given most teenagers in live action are being played by twenty-somethings.

Oh, and bonus points for the accuser not knowing the age of the person they're attacking... "You, the thirteen-year-old! You should only be attracted to people over 21! Because otherwise it's pedophilia!"
[This is an argument I have actually seen, I swear]

No one distinguishes between spoilers for the episode that just aired and spoilers for episodes that haven't aired yet. If I want to look at discussion and fanart for the new episode I just watched, I have to go into the spoiler tags and try to skip past all the leaks from future episodes.

Spamming a tumblr tag with 30 or 40 posts IN A ROW (usually twice a day, too) instead of queuing them to post throughout the day. Thank god for: mute, new xkit and their ability to track blogs like tags, so I can still see the posts but not clutter up my dash.

Unnecessarily harsh critique of unexperienced artists.

I don't care if they're 10 or 30, just starting out or been at it for decades. Stomping all over them for not being professionals or exceptional standards etc isn't cool 😡

It's a tie between kink shaming and politicized shipwank and character stanning. Although to be honest, those things often come bundled together.

Your choices in a RPG are 100% what your morals are. Because no one would ever role play in a role playing game. You can totally judge a person by what decisions they made in their game. Even if they have multiple playthroughs, all wildly different.

OOCness. But even more so when someone puts a fic or a piece of fanart out there that's super OOC and people just fawn over it. Ugh.
