(Anonymous) 2016-08-07 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)You want to complain about tropes? I agree with you. Forcing tropey uke/seme bullshit onto characters they don't apply to is bullshit. 100%.
But trying to push a moral superiority onto your preferred type of porn is equal levels of bullshit. Writing Bob sticking his dick in Joe's ass is not "not considering switches exist in real life," jesus. Some people simply like thinking about "Joe getting fucked" in particular, not "Joe having sex" or "Joe sticking his dick anywhere." Sometimes it turns out a whole damn lot of people like thinking about "Joe getting fucked" in particular, not "Joe having sex" or "Joe sticking his dick anywhere."
TL;DR: It's porn. Own you want more of what you like to fap to instead of trying to make everyone else wrong for not providing what you like.
Correct thread this time.
(Anonymous) 2016-08-07 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)Some people switch off regularly with the same sex partner. Others who call themselves switches do so because sometimes they look at one person and want to fuck them, and other times they look at another person and want to get fucked by them. Which doesn't mean they switch off with that person, it means they adapt to whoever it is. That's never considered by the people demanding more switching in the same fic or relationship, funny enough.

And I don't believe the majority think that switching isn't a real, valid thing, as much as it doesn't personally appeal to them (at least in this context). (It does to me, again, with certain pairings.)

(Anonymous) 2016-08-08 12:55 am (UTC)(link)I don't mind switching, but only if it makes sense to me in my head. (Which is usually based off of a couple's dynamics.) For one pairing that I used to write a lot for, I could definitely see them switching (and used to write it!) due to their personalities and the dynamics of their relationship. But for my current fandom darling, it's not so much like that. Due to how I see the characters, I can mostly only see one of the pairing topping. The other one might top every once in a rare while, but only if certain circumstances present themselves.
So I can see why you're complaining that there's not enough switching, but it would be nice for you to also see why there's not a lot of switching. Also, like someone else pointed out above, there's a reason why a lot of those stereotypes are stereotypes, and it's not due to slash fangirls.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-08 08:41 am (UTC)(link)Even funnier were only the self-satisfied circle jerk 'discussions' about the fact that, of course, every fictional male character ever and every real gay or bisexual man in existence is always 100% pro-switching, all the time and with every partner, because that's natural and normal.
Aww, thinking about that actually made me nostalgic now. Oooh, I should go look, if I can dig up the password to my old LJ account again.
