SPOILERS FOR BROKEN ISLES PRE-LAUNCH EVENT BELOW!

What the fuck? I am so torn by the events of the pre-launch. On the one hand, Vol'jin is dead. He was such a great character.

On the other hand, FUCK YEAH SYLVANAS AS WARCHIEF! My Forsaken as a main forever self is loving this. She is gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

On the other other hand, I sort of-kind of-totally ship Sylvanas/Varian and now THAT is never going to happen. :< They couldn't have let me have that? They'd be such a hate sex filled pairing.

I stared wide-eyed, hand over mouth with the one Varian cut scene. My king.... :(

But both my father and I were surprised at Sylvanas as Warchief. Totally not who I predicted - I was hoping for the Blood Elf just so he does something!

Pretty sure no one ever remembers Lor'themar exists. I'm honestly not sure if he is even still the leader of Blood elves or why I still know his name.

above anon:

I think he is still in charge of the Blood Elves - pretty sure I spied One-Eye (I know, bad nickname but well, it fits) at Vol'jin's funeral

I haven't played WoW in years and this is the first I'm seeing of this, but...

Fucking glory to Sylvanas.

YOU GODDAMN GAME, YOU MADE ME GIVE A SHIT ABOUT VARIAN THEN YOU FUCKING KILLED HIM. FUCKS SAKE.

I haven't done the Horde-side of things yet so I don't know how that all goes down exactly, but I shall because I wants to seeeee. But Sylvanas as Warcheif will be interesting to say the least.

Oh and I was happy that Greymane and Mekkatorque got to like, do stuff, holy fuck.

(Also I kind of wish I could make a Demon Hunter now because everyone seems to be having fun with them but I think I'm in the 2% of players that didn't pre-order the digital version of the game. Bah. Oh well got lots of shit to get via invasions and already got the felbat pet).

I didn't preorder either! I got the collector's edition so I gotta wait for it to arrive in the mail. :(

Re: World of Warcraft

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-08-11 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Same, I usually get the physical collectors edition because I want all the pretty extras that come with it(like the art-book, I love their art-books so much).

So at least you share my lack of Demon Hunterness at the moment, just everyone else in my guild has one and I'm like :( I wanna join in.

Don't know if you have bought it, but if you buy it on Amazon and have Prime it is like $20 cheaper than normal.

I've already pre-ordered Legion, did it months back and I don't have Prime anyway. Just gotta wait for it to get to me on the 30th.

I know! For Gilneas! Long live Greymane! (And did they change Greymane's fur? Didn't it used to be grey? Or am I misremembering things?)

Yes, it'll be very interesting to see Sylvanas as Warchief! Shall be very interesting (Of course, now who's the leader of the Troll faction?)

and can I get an "ugh, Jaina"?

Re: World of Warcraft

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-08-11 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think he was more of a grey colour yeah, but I like it tbh it looks unique rather than just being a taller Worgen model with an eyepatch.

She's gonna fuck shit up man, plus I want to know why she LEFT US IN THE LURCH, GODDAMIT(it's probably to go to try to save Vol'Jin, at least that's my bet). Uhm, maybe the Troll druid lady who got introduced in cata? Like that's the only person I can think of unless Vol'Jin has a secret kid hiding somewhere.

Ugh Jaina indeed man, one of my guildies summed it up earlier: 'all she needs to do is laugh after each sentence so that she's the full Saturday morning villain that she is', like this is 'evil' behaviour to the point of stupidity tbh. 'Fuck the Horde!' 'But Jaina we need them-' 'FUCK THE HORDE' *sighs of exasperation from everyone else*.

I am counting down the days until she's a raid boss, for real.

Re: World of Warcraft

(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
the "ugh Jaina" anon:

I think you may be right - because in the Horde cutscene for the Demon Hunters, Vol'Jin is clearly been injured. (And yes, my jaw dropped with that one - just not as badly with Varian) And ooh, that would be nice (and a quick glance at the Achievement page - there is no leader listed for us to kill. It's only four ::sad face:: But then, there's Gnome leader listed for the Horde to kill so make of that as you will)

And that is the perfect sum up of Jaina right now. And I shall join you in the countdown. (I can see Arthas wondering what the fuck he ever saw in her at this point)

Re: World of Warcraft

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-08-11 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine they wouldn't give you a new faction leader, maybe it'll happen further into the expansion? (I mean I want to think they would but we all know what Blizz's track record for tying up loose ends is, ha).

If I think too much about what's happened to Jaina I get sad and then angry, just, why her game? Why?

Re: World of Warcraft

(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
the ugh Jaina anon (which is becoming an easy tag to remember)

And there should have been a no before the Gnome - typed too fast. But yeah, it's weird that they don't have those two particular factions listed (but then, they are missing a couple of others so make of that what you will)

I know! Jaina was one of our few female faction leaders who actually kicked ass and now.. Sliding down that slippery slope.. I'm hoping that someone takes her aside and gives her a quick dose of reality before it's too late. Maybe they could have Arthas' ghost appear before her and give her a talk...?

Re: World of Warcraft

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-08-11 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hm that is strange. I can see them taking off the Gnome in order to keep the balance if you guys aren't getting a new person yet, or it means that Mekkatorque also bites it(which would be a shame since the guy doesn't get a whole lot to do), but I think atm we'll just have to wait to see what comes from it all.

Ugh, UGH. Just. Jaina was always the peace-keeper, was always able to rise above the bad she had witnessed(or had done to her) and if they had actually shown her being worn down over the years I could take it, I'd probably still hate it on some level but at least narratively it'd make sense. But this? She looses it in a patch and that's it, she's evil forever and it's just such a disservice to her character.

I'd love if they could somehow save her but considering how cartoonishly villainous she is atm I just don't see it, and I'm not going to enjoy it when we do take her down. I'll just be sad.

Ugh Jaina anon:

Shall be interesting ::firm nod:: But I'll save that investigating for my father, heh. He's the Horde player for the most part. I play Alliance. Makes for interesting discussions XD

Exactly. Ever since Garrosh bombed Theramore, she's been batshit nuts. I miss the old Jaina. (I'm naively hoping that this is a Black Dragon imposter and the real Jaina's off somewhere, unaware of what this imposter has done to her reputation. Allow me my delusions regarding her, please, Blizzard)

Re: World of Warcraft

[personal profile] nightscale 2016-08-11 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Defeat him for the glory of the Alliance! Nah it's cool to have someone who mains the other faction as a friend, lets you know what's going on(I've got some Horde alts myself but I don't play them often at all).

The worst part about the bombing is that she came back from that, in a book but still, it happened because even in-game she was okay again. Then the Sunreaver betrayal happened and nope, that's apparently what sets her off permanently. /sigh

Ha, I think I might adopt that line of thinking. No it's not Jaina, it's like a dreadlord in disguise, the real Jaina retired years ago and is letting the rest of you fuckers clean up this mess.

Re: World of Warcraft

(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh Jaina anon:

Ditto - I mainly play Alliance but I have a few Blood Elves (and one Tauran. I think she's a Holy Cow ::clears throat:: er, Paladin)

Ah, yes, I forgot the Sunreaver bullshit. (Did we ever get in-game confirmation that they did it or did Jaina just go "you are Horde, Horde evil, kill"?)

An excellent idea!

I've got me some Blood Elves and a Troll because Trolls are awesome, but same here with being an Alliance mainer. Night Elves baby! (And Worgen and Draenei). No, no you were correct with Holy Cow. :P

I can never forget *eye twitches*. I think it was just 'you Horde, kill Horde' and that was it. Which is yanno, fantastic writing. A+.

Shingeki no Kyojin [SPOILERS]

[personal profile] ketita 2016-08-11 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
- I really want to complain about the recent chapter and why I hate that it was Armin that got transformed. From a storytelling perspective, there's no particular beauty or irony in it. Unlike any of the vets, where you'd have the tension of them becoming something they spent so long fighting, with Armin it's just... there. It's not even like with Eren being a titan-shifter, which complicates his feelings about titans and his hatred etc.
As for Armin and Eren set up against each other, this could have been interesting, if not for the fact that it's had ZERO SETUP. Ugh.
(also I don't care for Armin, but that's a different issue).

- those interviews and the whole "liege" shitshow with the Ackermans. Is Isayama seriously fucking setting up the excuse for Mikasa to surpass Levi because "his liege Erwin is dead now Levi lost his Ackerman power boohoo"??? Seriously??? I mean it doesn't even make sense with canon - I thought that he initially had his "break" because of Farlan and Isabel? So clearly this whole "liege" business can be transferred also IT'S SO STUPID OKAY WHY IS THIS EVEN NECESSARY UGH.

Re: Shingeki no Kyojin [SPOILERS]

(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Wait. What.

So who was Kenny's liege? I mean, before he started working for the government? I thought the reason Kenny was such a monstrously efficient serial killer was that he had Ackerman powers combine with the fact that he was a self-serving psychopathic manchild who realized how badly the world had fucked him over. And then the government gave him serial killing job then he was a holy terror with that, and so on. Who was he serving then (besides himself)?

And I thought Levi "broke" when he was a kid. How else else are we supposed to believe that he was able to take down those guys in the street fight? Who was Levi's liege then? Kenny? Pfft, no. That's clearly not the relationship they had. And I thought that's what Kenny was trying to do with him in the first place: take care of him until his powers turned on and he could fend for himself, then abandon him.

Did I miss something? I don't think I did, but maybe? I dunno.

On top of this, when someone dies, they're not dead to the people they love right away. It usually takes a while for it to really sink in that they died. Even with the liege thing, it wouldn't have an immediate effect on Levi's powers. And either way, why didn't Miaksa's powers go away when she though Eren died? This is really stupid.

What gets me, though, is that Armin had a good chance of surviving until they got Reiner back. Trust me, I know. They both could have lived. This is just cheap frustration that thinks it's drama. But as long as Eren gets to see the ocean with his friends, we can all die happy, right?

(Sorry for the rant, but I really needed to bitch. There's more I need to rant about, but this has gone on for too long already.)

Re: Shingeki no Kyojin [SPOILERS]

[personal profile] ketita 2016-08-11 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
No, by all means, rant away. I'm so pissed off about this, mainly because it makes no fucking sense, like you say. It doesn't tie into ANY of what we've seen so far about the Ackermans.
I think Kenny's "liege" was supposed to be whatsisname, the guy he worked for (blanking atm). But like you say, it doesn't really fit in, because Kenny seemed to mostly be doing what he wanted. And like you say, we saw Levi's 'powers' when he was a kid, so just... what.

See, what gets me about the drama is ok, maybe they didn't think Armin would survive. But this could have been a really meaningful opportunity for communication and character development, but instead people shouted some stuff and then Levi had a flashback. It was so lazily done.

It's obvious Armin is Isayama's darling, though... and really, the way this series is going, I don't actually care much about them seeing the stupid ocean. It's such a minor issue right now. It would have been way braver to actually break up the whole "golden trio" thing.

....feel free to rant more if you want, I have a lot of annoyance at the current chapters.
