I really the source material itself, but it feels like a good chunk of cute cartoon/video games fandoms have some less great fans in them.

This is definitely true. The more cringey, awkward ones tend to stick out more than the good ones.

Yeah...I adore both MLPFIM and Steven Universe, but the former fandom went largely to shit and SU has already gotten almost as bad from what I hear.

I just fan with my friends IRL and stay off tumblr. I like art and fic, but I can find that stuff without getting into the drama.

Star Wars. I might have liked them if they didn't so vocally dislike the prequels. I like the prequels. They were the first Star Wars movies I ever watched. But whenever there is a Star Wars discussion there is always prequel bashing involved. I can't stand it.

At least the prequels tried to expand on the Star Wars universe. The new ones are just rehashing the same old shit.

I'm a Star Wars fan, and I love it all. The prequel bashing drives me crazy. I love all 7 movies, the tv shows, and most of the EU.

I don't care if people hate the prequels, but they need to stop telling other people that they are doing Star Wars wrong for liking them.

OH MAN, my corner of Star Wars fandom loves the prequels. Granted, they're a bunch of Anakin/Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan shippers so of course they like the prequels but yeah. A lot of love for both the prequels and the Clone Wars cartoon. :3

I really love Sherlock, but I hate that the fandom - which I have next-to-nothing to do with outside of reading fic - has made it so I can't admit this in general fannish spaces.

Game of Thrones, both the source material and the fans. Never found such a defensive lot in any other fandom who go nuts if you suggest the series is anything less than perfection.

Between fairy tale (in GENERAL!) and a good portion of DC fans...let's just say, I had to untrack the anti mcu tag because it went from reasonable criticism to insulting people who had the gall not to like suicide squad, as if opinions don't vary.

Well, I dislike how so much of the Harry Potter fandom seems more like a hatedom anymore.

I don't mean the play. That I get. I mean that actually liking the books over most of the fic puts you in the minority.

It was always filled with people who really thought Draco in Leather Pants/Woobified Snape/sympathetic Voldie was canon or should be, but now it's status quo.

I don't tend to hang around fandoms I'm not in, yeah? But the J2 side of SPN fandom is scary enough for me to be aware of them even though I've never even seen the show.

Gravity Falls. ALL my friends are into it and keep pestering me so I try and join them, but I don't want to. It looks ugly, the premise doesn't interest me, from what they told me I'm sure I'll hate the villain... and they won't take no for an answer.

Most of them. At this moment I feel like every single fandom I encouter just seems so negative and judgemental.

I cannot. Bloody. Stand. Most of the Mega Man fandom anymore. They're a bunch of bitter shits STILL about Legends 3. I mean, I'm disappointed, but I've found better reasons to be all "screw capcom" than just one game. (Namely, Capcom screwing over all my favorite franchises a lot. Then again I'm probably a hypocrite about things because I'm still pissed they never localized Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Pokemon fandom.

Genwunners/people complaining about how the new Pokemon suck, entitled shits that whine that Japan gets all the events (Every. Fucking. Time.), the Pokemon Go subreddit deciding that getting refunds for coins they used weeks ago because they didn't like what happened with the update removing footprints... I mean obviously some things about Pokemon suck but they like to whine.

But there are also some cool people and more chill corners so I don't leave it entirely.

Most of the big ones: Supernatural, Sherlock, and Steven Universe. Also, Overwatch.

I love the source material, both comics and movies, but Marvel fandom also has some of the most petty, oversensitive, mean-spirited assholes I've ever had the misfortune to encounter in it.

While there are oases of kindness and fellow-feeling in the Doctor Who fandom, most of it is just completely bonkers, and has been for decades. (This isn't just old-Whovians vs. new-Whovians; there are people in fandom who will still insist that the show should have been cancelled rather than casting Peter Davison.)
