Twice. I bought some burgers at Sonic for the family. Got home and none of them had meat. I was so mad. I can understand messing up the condiments but HOW DO YOU FORGET THE MEAT?? I was mad and angrily called them about it. They told me to come get new ones so I had to drive 10 minutes back to Sonic and then it took 15 minutes for them to come out. :<

The second one was at Logan's. I tried this burger they sale that has like fried cheese on top. Bit into it and my hand got burnt with scalding hot cheese. It hurt like hell. Told the manager and she was all, "That sucks." So I messaged their FB page to complain about it.

I think you're perfectly justified in being mad that multiple burgers did not have a patty! Kind of defeats the purpose of a burger!

The first example sounds legit to me but the second one is definitely being THAT customer.

I mean, I was actually hurt from that burger. I had to put burn cream on it for a couple days. I would not have been so mad had the manager not just shrugged and acted like it is perfectly normal to be scalded by a burger.

Well. I mean. Not to downplay your pain, but people take their own risks when biting into hot food, you know?

I don't think that is how that works. Generally, food should not be hot enough to physically harm someone. Especially when all the rest of the burger is a reasonable temperature.

Also, if there is a danger of food being that hot, the restaurant should inform the customers. Like how some places will tell you the plate is hot when putting it on your table.

If they waited until the fried cheese was cool enough, it's likely the rest of your burger would've been cold. Again, I'm sorry you were burned, but arguing that people ought to be told that fried cheese is hot is... well okay then.

I don't think the issue is whether or not people should be told fried cheese is hot, it's whether fried cheese should BE hot enough to burn skin in the first place. I honestly wouldn't expect it to be that hot. I don't think I'd take it up with the manager, but I might if it got hurt badly.

You cannot deep fry cheese (or anything) without dangerously high temperatures. Now you can argue that the restaurant should've held onto the burger until it cooled down before giving it to the customer, but hopefully you can see why that might cause additional problems for the restaurant, i.e. people being impatient for their food. The sensible thing to do is to hope that people who order deep fried foods are smart enough to be cautious about putting them in their mouths. A warning would've been nice, but I cannot agree that people who order their food made to order can't possibly anticipate that it might be really hot.

Yeah, that's not a great reaction. I feel like this is a bit of a customer service grey area--on the one hand, hot food is gonna be hot and unless it's like, giving you third degree burns it's sort of part of the risk you take on. But usually burgers *aren't* scalding hot, and if you got hurt I think it would be appropriate to at least express some concern. :/

It would not have been a problem at all. But when I told the manager what happened, she dismissed the issue. She even told me about other people who had been scalded by the same burger. Like, someone had it burn their face when they bit into it. If it is a known problem, at least put a blurb about it on the menu!

see that's just really bad customer service. if you don't care that *multiple* people are getting burned by your burger, you're not doing a good job.

Trainees can forget meat. Last restaurant I worked at, the trainee was so focused on getting the condiments right that he forgot the meat. Fortunately the customer was good-natured and we had a laugh, plus it was a dine-in order during a slow period, so it didn't take much time to fix it. I can understand being frustrated if you had to go back to have it fixed especially if you didn't think you'd have to go out again that day :/
