Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes is an excellent choice. I don't think I'd recommend Breaking Bad to my own mother, though.

Glad to help. I can understand how something like this might be disappointing, but assuming your instructors aren't assholes, there might be a good reason. And honestly, even if they're assholes, it wouldn't help for you to stomp up and demand why they gave you an inferior piece. Asking for their input and insight on why they gave you this one might give you a leg up. Good luck!

Have you ever considered that OP may be a hamster? A hamster could roll around on Jared Padalecki many, many times.

Re: Ugh thread

(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I saw your earlier post, but I'm sorry, anon. If it helps, I don't think it's a case of you not meaning anything to him at all, it's more likely a case of cowardice and him avoiding confrontation. A lot of people are like that - given the chance, they'd prefer to pretend a problem never existed rather than face it head on.

Now I don't know your circumstances, but surely you feel you deserve better than someone who'd rather let you suffer and wonder what went wrong after he agreed to talk about it. It's a cliche, but you're better off without him. Don't look to him for closure, look to people who love and care about you to support you in the aftermath and give yourself time to heal.

Wow. A screwdriver's not exactly a high tech sort of tool, that lady was showing her ignorance big time.

Oh gosh no, the instructors are definitely not assholes--and I wouldn't dream of pissing and moaning to them about it. Your advice is the best course--and thank you for the good wishes!

If you can get hold of them, Homicide: Life on the Street and Prime Suspect are classics.

My tastes are simple but I love chocolate. If something has chocolate in it then I will devour it.

I feel confident on what words mean. People can't expect to make up their own definitions to claim the label they want and be taken seriously.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, this definition is uncannily similar (by which I mean EXACTLY THE SAME) to demisexuality, which people shit all over and call not a thing.

What junior high aged kid wasn't, though?

Re: rambly vent

I volunteered at a suicide hotline for about 4 years. We really only call the police in very specific situations- if someone tells a clear plan on how they are going to kill themselves or another person and it becomes evident that they are planning on going through with that plan. I think I called the police on 6 people that entire time (and I volunteered 6 hours a week for those 4 years)...5 of those told me their address so that I could send the police to their location to help. Just so you know if you do want to call in the future. It's very rare that we ever call the police on someone.

He's probably conned himself by this point. Ultimate con artist.

I hear you! And I'd settle for being merely a stylish rich lady.

I work until 11 or so, so when i get home, all the comments are made and nobody is around anymore. (Except on weekends.)

*sigh*

1) there is nothing remotely reasonable about "YKINMK"
2) a condescending comment deserves a condescending response

Well more like yesterday (Thurs) I got my FitBit Flex in the mail! Yeah it's an older version, but I won it as a door prize recently. I put it in to charge up and it will have 5 lights displayed fully charged.

It had 4 so to my i don't care delight said "there! are! 4! lights!"

:-) Now to figure out how to use this thing.

which is also called grey asexuality.

Re: Spoiler warning for season 3

(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
But he never really sees any consequences for it. When he was possessing Lars' body and went invading his and Sadie's private life (and in a pretty skeevy way, too, it was seen as no big deal. The one who got left with all the fallout for that in the end was Lars (I don't even like that character, but that episode was fucked up).

I think Steven gets treated like a charming toddler who can do no real wrong, but he's far too old for that.

Re: Spoiler warning for season 3

(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I think the key is that Steven didn't try to enter Lars' body, he just ended up there, and he did what he thought Lars would have done in that situation, he just happened to be really bad at it.

It's not really fair to judge him for something that he didn't do on purpose, and that he acted entirely in good faith.

I quite liked The Closer, really like Major Crimes and I enjoyed Cold Case a lot. Also seconding Lewis (and for the lighthearted thing, Midsomer Murders as well).
