Re: Spoiler warning for season 3

Yeah, there are quite a few episodes early on where he makes a mistake or fucks up somehow, makes a huge mess and then has to figure a way out of it. In later episodes that sort of plot isn't so common, but what happens instead is you see him starting to question things he's been brought up to believe about his mother, the crystal gems, the nature of the gem war, and all that. And he's beginning to see through the idealized, sanitized vision he and the other Crystal Gems have made of his mother, Rose Quartz. It's actually some of the most subtle and interesting character development I've seen in a show aimed at kids.

oh God you should never, never say that, do you WANT the pain to start up now? For goodness sake, spit three times down your shirt.

There is nothing wrong with that! Kinda cool actually!

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
If English isn't your first language, you must be really sheltered to not know the sexual idiom that "rolling around" is.

Re: Crime shows?

Breaking Bad, The Shield, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Better Call Saul, Sherlock Holmes (with Jeremy Brett), CSI Miami (so cheesy, so good), Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I recommend all of those for your mom, too.

Not legally, but there are photos of his junk and butt all over the tabloids, so I guess you could call that "trouble", too.

Today (well, today in Europe, you're still behind!) is the anniversary of the day I quit normal school. Which means very little to people here, but, A+ life decision.

I had the same reaction. It made me realize how tired I am of superhero movies. Though I then realized that wasn't necessarily true because weeks later, X-Men: Apocalypse came out, and I was excited for that.

So, you're not alone, OP. And frankly, I hated Martin Freeman being there because he served no real purpose and I don't care for him in general. I also had no sympathy for Alfre Woodard's character because...it sucks that her son died, but you expect me to sympathize with her because the Avengers are the indirect cause of his death when y'all live in a world where aliens exist & supervillains are doing shit on the reg? Byeeee

Literally the only reasons I'm even excited for Spider-Man: Homecoming are because of cast members I like.

:( that really sucks. Why does the American labor system suck so much?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I did, because based on what OP said about themselves, they do not meet the definition of asexual. Because wanting to sex with a real person? Not asexual. Jared Padalecki - the body containing Sam Winchester - is a real person.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't you ever seen a kid roll down a hill, or done that yourself when you were little? Have you ever rough-housed with a kid in a ticklefight or horsed around with your dog giving it tummy scritches? Were either of those things sexual?

(If they were, please don't tell me, I'm skeeved just typing that.)

fuck Martin Freeman !!!!1

also I feel like this movie had a little less of the big CGI spectacle action sequences than some of the more recent Marvel movies? (AoU, I'm looking at you....) But, I really loved the movie, so I'm kinda biased.

I loved Civil War (though I wish it hadn't been Civil War, if that makes sense), but this was me with X-Men Apocalypse. I found it empty, screwing over characters I love, just downright bad.

VERY EXCITING NEWS

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends what you want out of the fandom. It definitely skews older and more educated than most fandoms I've been in (and with a lot of women who have discovered fandom for the first time), the fic quality is fabulous (if very, VERY Phryne/Jack heavy), and even having been in it for awhile I'd still say it's a really supportive, pro-women fandom. Mostly. You do get the occasional Jack Stan going "Oh, Phryne is so selfish and doesn't deserve him" (mostly on ff.net) but it tends to be countered with rational arguments. I really like it, but if you're into (say) kink fic it might be too tame for you. (But there's mroe femmeslash than slash, which is a strange novelty!)

I could have stood for a little more Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and a little less Star Trek: Into Darkness.

(Not saying it was as bad as Into Darkness, mind you. Just that it had the same sort of overstuffed feeling.)

Holy fuck, people are not cats.

Re: Ugh thread

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
is there a stream they might have fallen into and been fished out of, after floating halfway across the campus?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not asexual and it sounds like cuddles to me, too.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
nayrt

Is English your first language? Because you appear not to realize that a phrase can be an idiom, but an idiom can also have a literal interpretation. For example, if I'm guessing how many jellybeans are in a jar and I get the exact number correct, I've hit the nail on the head. If I'm putting together a bookshelf and I pick up a hammer and nail together two boards, I've also hit the nail on the head.

Not everything that might be an idiom IS the idiom. You have to go by context.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think that when one person cuddles with another person, it's intrinsically sexual?

Re: Canon but not Fandom?

[personal profile] ariakas 2016-09-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Like 90% of the video games I play, honestly. And 100% of the TV I watch.

It takes something very specific for me to get into a fandom. I just have to fall head over heels for a story, the characters, and my friends usually have to, too, or I won't have anybody to discuss it with.

Not only America, but Oklahoma. So that doubly sucks.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there's a difference between rolling around/cuddling and fucking somebody.

I roll around with my dog and we're not boning, but she is a nice cuddler and it's fun and cozy.
