I know the feeling, but I think it's sorta reassuring to know that maybe kids will love the new Anne as much as I love the old Anne.

Yeah that's probably the best way to think about it, that it's aimed at a new generation. The olds just have to deal :P

What about the 1985 series makes it inappropriate for the new generation?

ayrt

Did I say that? But I think a remake will spark new interest in kids that have no idea it exists, and maybe some will discover the old version because of it. Which hurts no one.

I feel like a lot of studios think they have to dumb down and slapstick up more modern adaptions for today's kids not to be bored by it. I think this is a wrong approach but it's a thing that just won't go away anytime soon.

Things that worked for kids then don't necessarily work for the kids now.

It could be anything from the video quality (I know kids that have a harder time paying attention to anything that looks even slightly grainy/dated) to the flow of dialogue to the music.

The reason why we love the old Anne is because it was tailored to our generation.

The older miniseries wasn't made for kids, though. I'm also a bit dubious that kids would have a hard time with grainy/dated video quality, since crappy animation is the mainstay of many peoples' childhoods and there doesn't seem to be any problems with that.
