I don't judge you for your opinions, but if you have children and those opinions lead you to not vaccinate your kids, you'd be a child murdered.

I'll judge them for their "opinions" because every time someone condones this bullshit they could be validating rather than shaming some shitty parent and I want them to shut the fuck up about it for fear of being shunned. There is no need for respect here, this movement has killed people.

I think of it like the folks who drink unpasteurized milk because they think it will make their immune systems stronger. When they get sick and die, at least they made their choice. When their five-year-olds get sick and die, that changes the issue completely.

This.

I don't like hearing people say "well, it's ok if it's only THEIR kids". No! Their kids are not just an extension of themselves, and kids deserve medical care. It is not okay to put other people in danger and I would argue ESPECIALLY if that person if your child.

I'm fine with it being their kids too, whatever it takes to get their genes out of the pool.

Then we vehemently disagree and I think you sound pretty dickish.

There is no guarantee that the children will have the lasting mental problems of the parents.

From what I have heard, drinking unpasteurized milk is only effective if one does it in childhood. I probably did, because I had an aunt and uncle who were dairy farmers when I was young. That milk was probably fresh from the cow, within a couple of hours at the most, and honestly that's the only way I'd trust unpasteurized milk too.

uh... unpasteurized milk is usually fine, and actually doesn't "go bad" like pasteurized milk, so freshness isn't the issue. It will just thicken and curdle and taste a bit cheesy. there is, however, a risk of contamination, as well as the danger of contracting tuberculosis if the cow is infected with bovine tuberculosis. where I live they are tested for that but there remains a certain risk, of course.

So drinking unpasteurized milk you bought from a farmer is pretta safe, just like it usually is in developing countries and has been for people who keep cows and other milk-producing cattle, for milennia. However the risk of contamination grows with how much the milk is handled and transported, so it makes sense to only have pasteurized milk in supermarkets.

Also I don't give it to my kindergarten kid. When she's 6+ I'm going to let her eat sushi and raw eggs, and I'll probably also let her drink raw milk.

Yeah, I think that's what I meant about the only situation I trust it - really, really fresh, from a trusted source.

It's one of those things that anyone with a spot of sense just has to be careful with.

Yep. And if your unvaccinated kids make an immunocompromised kid who CAN'T get vaccines sick, well that's on you too.
