Games you're playing

Tell us about it.

Sims 2 - Harry Potter versions

(Anonymous) 2016-10-26 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I was really happy when I realized Sim!Harry's life aspiration was to be Captain Hero and Sim!Draco's was to be a Criminal Mastermind. But nothing else seems to be going as planned.

Ron and Harry are friends with each other, but Hermione's been wavering in the not-quite-friends mode for three college semesters now. And Draco and Neville are thick as thieves and becoming better friends with Hermione than Ron and Harry. Luna, Hermione and Ginny are also pretty good friends.

And because six sims in college are kind of a lot to handle...I think I'm pretty much going to have accept the game I've got and get a weird little HP AU going on. Maybe give them a couple generations and turn it into Marauder years and forward from there. See! I don't have a weird game going on! It's just ancestral!

World of Warcraft. Got to 110 finally so now I have to figure out how to do World Quests and Suramar.

Also playing Pokemon Go because they are having a Halloween event so way more ghost pokemon and WAYYYY more candies.

Re: Games you're playing

(Anonymous) 2016-10-26 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
congrats on getting to 110!

Suramar is a huge pain in the ass rep grindwise. ::shudders:: I love the faction there, it's just *painful*. Collect Ancient Mana shards (which have a cap) and feed the Nightfallen when their sanity bars fall to critical levels for 50pts a person. (There's three of them, so 150pts every time)

World Quests can be fun - depending on where you are. And such a good rep build as well

Space Engine, though it's not so much a game as an exploration simulator. It's so soothing to watch sunsets on different planets.

I'm playing through Uncharted 2 and also Oxenfree right now. Uncharted 2 is part of my quest to get through the entire Nathan Drake collection, and Oxenfree cause it felt appropriate for the time of year (its got ghosts and shit) and I got a PS Store gift card for my birthday a little bit back and wanted to use it to pick up some indie games.

Uncharted 2 is great. Definitely one of the better games in the series. \o/

Recently picked Kitty Powers' Matchmaker again and remembering exactly why I thought it was fun as feck.

Bioshock Infinity

(Anonymous) 2016-10-26 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never played a Bioshock game before! I think I had the impression they were horror so I never looked into it?
But there was a steam sale and I figured it would run on our older laptop and now I'm extremely into it, extremely belatedly. It's a real thrill to play something with more plot and characterization after all the open world and simulation games I've been playing lately.

The first two games (but mostly the first) definitely have a horror aspect given that BS1 is a spiritual sequel to System Shock 2 (which was made by the same developer.) But it combines that with a (rather hamfisted) cautionary tale about hubris, hypocrisy and laissez-faire capitalism.

The 2nd game is the best one by the way.

Elite: Dangerous. Finally got out to the Carina Nebula (sadly, the weirdness of Eta Carinae was not implemented, and will spend the rest of the week bouncing around that sector before heading in to Sag A*.

Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles. Basically a retelling of RE2 and Code Veronica using a framing story set in South America. It's also a rail shooter in true House of the Dead style, which I find amusing given how the original RE and HOTD came out around the same time and had very similar premises but were very different games. RE Survivor seems to be like an attempt to bridge the gap between the two genres (it's a first person rail shooter but with greater freedom of movement) but with the Chronicles games things have come full circle.

I'm also playing Pokemon for the first time in 17 years (FireRed, to be exact) and getting my ass handed to me by Brock.

I got back into The Old Republic because of the new expansion, and because I suddenly had this motivation to plow my Bounty Hunter through all the post-game material, just so I could continue my romance with Torian Cadera (because Johnny Yong Bosch, lmao).

I'm also looking forward to Skyrim Remastered, and I'm ready to pop it into the GameFly queue. I'd buy it, but ah... I have a trip coming up next month and I need to save my pennies, lmao.

FFXIV on and off. I hit a wall with WoW (since the alt playing was a grind and a half for legion...), I picked it back up. But I'm also getting kind of stalled on it as well, especially since you can't do glamours until level 50...and have a TON of gil to do it with. I have no idea WHY Squeenix didn't go the Transmog route in FFXIV. It's bad enough that the housing plot thing is such a gil sink (instead of going the SWTOR and Wildstar route with separate INDIVIDUAL instances that you can invite people to...), but the Glamour system is just as bad.

WoW as always.

The new patch came out today and I got the mythic dungeon part of the attunement done today since I'm out most of the weekend and today was my only non-busy day to get it done, also three emissary quests devs, holy fuck thanks but I also like wasn't prepared for that.

I also got one of my skins unlocked for my owlcat feral appearance today which was nice, I no longer have to make sure I'm always in feral-mode to do WQ's.

In Sims 3 I managed to get my Drow house finished in set-up, that is to say I finished planting it's underground garden, and age up Thorian, Irri's plantsim baby, to toddlerhood, so I have moved on to moving a copy of my Silmaril household into Istilnan, but I have not yet gone in to finish organising their house (there is only so much you can do while editing an empty lot, and some thing only come up when you actually have sims in play).

But of late (like the last week), I have only been playing SimCity 2000, because I have been listening to a lot of YouTube anti-SJW/anti-Feminism videos, and some, like TL;DR, post really long-ass videos. Also Bloodborne videos.
