I never got the appeal about Harry either, protagonists are typically duds. At the same time I'd go to war with trashing Ginny Weasley, even though I didn't care for Harry (or the pairing) much at all. Harry's status as a protagonist literally inflated Ginny's self-worth and entitlement of him and that's what really offended me about her stupid ass. It's was brazen and tactless, JKR couldn't even disguise her motives behind proving how much Ginny deserved him or how deserving she was of Harry.

It was horribly obnoxious and obnoxious writing.

Ginny is like a fiction gold-digger, only she's after fictional fame not irl fortune. /rant

It's funny OP but I recently had q personal debate about trying to define Harry's personality. He has negative qualities, like having screaming fits, but the negatives stand out because he's usually passive. I hoped I had better things to say about him but apparently that's the best I have atm.

Well, I mean, you're writing the author's perceived external attitude towards the character onto the characters' actual in-fiction, textual personality. You said that she's a gold-digger for main character status. It's really fucking weird. That's not a thing.

You know what pisses me off about this view of Ginny? Aside from being described as attractive, she's basically a female version of Fred and George. But apparently, such qualities in a female are unbelievable, and off putting.

She likes a dude who happens to be famous, anyone paired with him would be under the same scrutiny. And please show me the canon evidence of her indulging in gold-digger like behavior.

(Plus if this were true, why even bother with a career? She could have just sat her lazy ass at home eating chocolate frogs and spending Harry's gold.)

If people don't like her, fine. There are plenty of reasons not to. But, I am sick of: She's just a FANGirl Whore, after Harry's FAME and MONEYz.

Given that I have no problem with people who dislike Ginny, just that vitriolic line of thinking in regards to her that comes off as disgusting and misogynistic. I can only assume that you do think like that and probably do so for pairing related reasons.

(Which FYI: I'm a multi-shipper and can go from one ship to the next without dragging characters 'who get in the way'. I'm quiet fond of Harry/Luna, that would have been interesting canon wise.)

I think the problem with her is that her like-Fred-and-George qualities took so damn long to show up. The first two books made a point of how she couldn't even speak to Harry, and that is understandable, but she all but vanishes in the next two books before suddenly appearing again as Twins'-younger-sister.

Yes, exactly. I think I read somewhere that JKR always intended Harry/Ginny to be end game. If this is true, maybe she was trying to make it a surprise? IDK. But it did not do Ginny's character any favors.

I prefer characters/pairings to be more fleshed out. Her disappearing act left more to be desired.

How do you know the anon you're replying to likes Fred and George? Maybe they don't. They're only talking about Ginny because she's the love interest of Harry, who was the original subject of the conversation.

It's very strange how often Ginny fans assume everyone who dislikes her likes Fred and George just so they can call them misogynist hypocrites. I love it when those people come back in and say "Well, nobody asked, but since you mention it, I hate the twins too." :3

Just curious, what side of fandom do you hang out on? Serious. Because I've never seen this. Hating Ginny, Fred and George, yes (And again that's fair bro.) But never in this context.

Well, I appreciate you not outright flaming me. I stand by my belief that some of the people who hate Ginny do so for misogynist or pairing related reasons. I reach this conclusion mostly based on the language they use when describing why the hate her.
